Direct reports are members of Security Response teams.

Purpose
Lead Security Response teams, responsible for patrolling the site and act as first responders to Artisanal Small Scale Mining (ASSM) issues to ensure they perform their duties in a professional manner.

Essential Duties
Act as leader of Security Response team and coordinate their activities in the field.
2.Carry out any instructions as directed by the Security Assistant Superintendent.
3.Ensure that the Security Assistant Superintendent and Security Manager is informed of any events/actions that may affect the security of the site.
4.Ensure team members comply with the safety standards of the company.
5.Ensure team members are trained in the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR).
6.Regularly patrol the site and be on the lookout for any ASSM activities on the Merian footprint with special emphasis on pit perimeter invasions.
7.As part of a Security Response Team act as first responders to all ASSM activities detected.
8.Responsible to manage encounters with SSM’s trespassing on Newmont Suriname property, without escalating the confrontation.
9.Provide precise instructions to team personnel in order to appropriately respond to incidents.
10.Act as Security representative at ASSM work groups (Merian ASSM Strategy).
11.Carry out Emergency Response Team (ERT) duties when required.
12.Ensure team members are equipped, trained and qualified to perform their duties in a professional manner.
13.Detect deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to the Security Manager.
14.Coordinate and share information with Security Investigators whom are responsible for the ASSM mapping.
15.Liaise with local Suriname Police and Orden Goudsektor (OGS) officers when required.
16.Provide a daily report to the Security Assistant Superintendent.
17.Supervise the care, use and inventory of equipment assigned to security Response team personnel and submit a monthly report on condition.
18.Continuously monitor individual development of subordinates.
19.The essential duties described above are the primary responsibilities of the position. The position also requires the performance of numerous other duties not specifically described which may be directed by the immediate supervisor.
20.Ensure that no Public Security member (Police/Military/OGS) seconded to the team, is in possession of a fire arm or traditional weapon while on duty.

Training & Experience
VWO (minimum).
At least 3 years exposure to security issues and practices in a security environment, or military/police experience preferred.
Works well under pressure, change and ambiguity.
Attention to detail.
Deal with situations in an open, objective, and flexible manner.
Make realistic, practical, value-based decisions.
Interpersonal, organizational and oral and written communication skills required.
PC skills using office software including: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint applications.
Leading hand experience.
Driver’s License.


Working Conditions
Work will be performed in various areas of the mine or company property.
Position may require remote jobsite living and working conditions.
Position requires 24x7 availability for emergency response and other responsibilities.
May require odd shift changes.
Position requires a willingness, along with the requisite good health and physical fitness to frequently operate in dangerous and severe environments including high altitude, tropical, desert, or inclement weather conditions.
Risk of injury is inherent in the position.
Must wear personal protective equipment including steel toe shoes, long sleeves, and any other equipment to perform duties safely as determined by the Health and Safety plan.
