Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Operations Manager, Nigeria is responsible for the delivery of services to a very high standard of service excellence across the country. The post will deliver Service and Operational Excellence with special focus on Guarding. Main roles are as follows;
Accountable for the Guarding P&L, including Executive Services.
In conjunction with HR and Operations and Assistant Operations Managers, carry out workforce planning and delivery to the highest standard of labour efficiency, across all business units in Nigeria. In other words, deliver the right number of people at the right time, while ensuring there are sufficient weekly, annual, sick and AWOL and training
relievers.
Act as Health and Safety Champion across the country.
Deliver a rolling operational excellence programme to include:
Effective SOPs for the delivery of services to the highest standard.
Risk assessments, post instructions, emergency procedures and safe havens to be in place for each post.
In conjunction with Procurement and Finance, ensure that uniforms are ordered and delivered to budget in a timely manner across all GardaWorld business units in Nigeria.
Introduce and oversee Tiered Audit Programme of sites on an annual basis.
Manage the retraining of Operations Managers, Assistant Operations Managers and Supervisors as part of the Operational Excellence Programme.
Work with HR to introduce a values based awards system based on the GardaWorld Values.
Understand and oversee the delivery of Guarding and Executive Services.
Produce special project plans as required.
Responsible for adherence to BMS processes and making changes.
Be the primary responsible person for high level risk assessments.
Devise and implement training and qualification for armed security officers per Government directives.
Support Commercial and sales efforts, specifically bid and proposal development.
Be available to engage with customers and clients in terms of relationship management.
Drive continuous improvement in the financial performance and service delivery of the Guarding Business including Executive Services.
Act as champion for H&S and Operational Excellence across the Nigeria business.
Manage Labour efficiency across the Nigeria business.
Ad hoc project management.
Compliance with operational processes; ensure business operational strategies and initiatives are implemented across all Nigeria operational areas in a timely and cost effective manner.
Accountability:
The Senior Operations Manager, Nigeria, is accountable to the Regional Director, Nigeria and Country Manager, Nigeria. for their responsibilities stated in this job description. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through the mid-year and annual performance reviews and supported through the monitoring of their KPIs.
Competencies:
Ability to manage and motivate a large team of staff;
Well-developed understanding of operational physical and technical security issues;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to convey complex messages across a wide ranging audience;
Ability to produce complex SOPs/documentation in line with ISO and PSC1 requirements;
Demonstrates financial awareness; controls costs and thinks in terms of profit, loss and added value;
Must have a sound working knowledge of IT (MS Office) and communications (tactical comms plus a base knowledge of IT infrastructure, servers etc.) in order to present and accurately maintain internal and external reporting and document management/storage requirements;
Ability to make prompt, clear and considered decisions within challenging environments;
Upholds ethics and values and demonstrates integrity;
Sets high standards of quality and quantity;
Identifies business opportunities for the organization;
Takes responsibility for actions, projects and people.
Qualifications & Experience:
10 years’ experience in operational leadership role
3 years’ experience running a P&L
5 years of experience in a similar industry at a senior commercial level
Military experience at a senior level desirable
Degree level education (preferably within the security environment).
