Overview of position
II. Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall oversight of the Chief of Mission (CoM), general supervision of the Mission Field Security Officer (MFSO), Field Security Officer (FSO) and direct supervision of the Senior Local Security Assistant (SLSA) in charge for compound security and in their absence the National security officer.

III. Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The incumbent will be responsible for:
The monitoring of the alert bulletins broadcasted by the UN security in Afghanistan, Host government security and national medias.
Sharing of the alert bulletin with all Mission staff using most appropriate communication means (SMS, Email, radio communication or cell phone)
Monitoring and operating the communication systems such as Radio (HF, VHF, UHF) mobile phones, satellite telephones and e-mail systems in order to maintain communication among staff members and partners (UN security, DPS, IAG and UAG) all relevant tasks related to use of communication will also be part of the responsibilities (ex. Radio check, Warden system)
Monitoring all vehicle movements in Kabul City and countrywide using VTS and communications systems, compile related information and submit this information to the LSA
Reporting of any suspicious or irregular activities to the SLSA during business hours and to the security officer on duty after business hours.
Ensuring proper use and care of the communication system and reporting support at your disposal.
