Role Purpose:
Through an in-depth understanding of the region, the post holder will advise and assure the safe and secure operations of the British Council’s global operations through the implementation of a risk-based approach to managing security, safety and continuity. This role covers the EU and Wider Europe Regions. Specifics of the Role/Regional Context: The Safety, Security and Continuity team is part of the wider Risk team. Risk falls within the Internal Audit & Risk directorate which is part of COO function. The Internal Audit & Risk function is responsible for developing the British Council’s risk management strategy and ensures the embedding of risk management in all organizational activities.
Key focus:
As directed by the Head of Safety, Security and Continuity the role:
1.Act as second line of defence, lead the safety, security and continuity’s team’s work in a region (or regions) of the globe, providing advice and assurance to the organisation’s leadership that the security and safety management is effective.
2. Undertake regular overseas safety and security visits to countries within your region to provide advice and assurance to country management that risks are being effectively managed.
3. Provide technical advice to the frontline on the application of the British Council Safety, Security and Continuity System (Policy and Framework) ·
4. Provide training to British Council operations in your regional area on the application of the British Council Safety, Security and Continuity System (Policy and Framework)
5. Monitor compliance to the British Council Safety, Security and Continuity System (Policy and Framework), to provide assurance to global leadership
6. Manage relationships with key senior regional managers to understand and support the regional strategy, reporting on Regional and Senior Business Unit progress.
7.Lead the development and management of the regional network of safety & security risk coordinators, support operational business teams with pragmatic advice and guidance to ensure that our duty of care is being addressed.
This is a Regional Role, open to both internal and external candidates and based in Poland, Hungary or Czech Republic. No relocation package is available for candidates applying from abroad the 3 mentioned locations. This is a PB 8/ grade E position and according to the British Council PayScales the salary offers will start at below mentioned levels, with flexibility depending on the experience and background of the candidate:
1. Hungary : 875,000 HUF
2. Poland: 12.667 PLN
3. Czech Republic: 75.000 CZK
