Job Summary

The Ammunition Stock Control Specialist operates the Standard Ammunition and Accounting System–Modernized (SAAS-MOD) computer hardware and software, and utilizes manual records to perform stock control and accounting procedures for ammunition, explosives and associated explosive components. This position interfaces and coordinates with Contracting Officer Representatives and the Ammunition Accountable Officer to ensure effective and efficient customer support and accurate inventory management.

Principal Accountabilities

(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
Serves as the primary interface with the Ammunition Accountable Officer, Contracting Representative and Customer Units
Perform ammunition supply stock control and accounting duties using both automated and manual procedures
Maintain hardware and software systems and manual records required to successfully perform stock control and accounting procedures for ammunition and explosives
Complete causative research on stock record balances not agreeing with inventory counts
Prepare ammunition transaction documents pertaining to receipts, issues, location changes, turn-ins, shipments, and maintenance and inventory adjustment of ammunition assets
Provide overarching guidance for the SAAS-MOD system
Plans and conducts inventories of all stocks; manages, coordinates, and executes the receipt, issue, transfer, location change, disposition, turn-in and shipment of all ammunition, ammunition components and packing materials
Serves as the system administer for the SAAS-MOD system, directly interfaces with Combat Support Systems Automated Management Office (CSS-AMO) for SCP upgrades and change packages and makes recommendations to resolve problems
Troubleshoot the SAAS-MOD System
Set up satellite connectivity from the V-SAT system and troubleshoot as needed
Verify the accuracy of inbound receipt and outbound shipment documentation
Oversee pending receipts and shipments to maintain awareness of required delivery dates within the ASP/TSA
Responsible for all stock control procedures and SAAS-MOD documentation which include: the scheduling of reports; archiving files; storage files maintenance; input; and output
Maintain hard copy files of all original supply transactions, voucher numbers, causative research, adjustment documents, documents, document register, and other records related to ASP operations in accordance to Department of Army regulations and policies


Knowledge & Skills

Ability to gather and analyze metrics, data, and write reports
Possess the background necessary to be granted access to government computers
Strong customer service skills
Proficient at verbal and written communication
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Knowledge of military ASP operations
Knowledge of ammunition and hazardous material handling to ensure the safe receipt, storage, issue and movement of ammunition, explosives, chemicals, or radioactive materials in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements
Strong understanding of U.S. Army and DOD ammunition regulations
Thorough knowledge of the Standard Ammunition and Accounting System-Modernized (SAAS-MOD) computer system and Very Small Aperture Terminal (V-SAT) Satellite System


Experience & Education

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in ammunition stock control operations and ammunition supply operations. Preferred ammunition MOS 89A (Ammunitions Stock Control Specialist)
High School Diploma or equivalent
Previous experience with SAAS-MOD including inputting and and retriving data
Must remain current with new and changing functions of the SAAS-MOD system and must train on new supply systems as directed by the Army if SAAS-MOD is replaced or modified


Physical Requirements/Working Environment

Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
