The European Union Training Mission Somalia (EUTM) was activated on 7 April, 2010. The purpose of the mission is to contribute to the stabilization of the situation in Somalia in accordance with the Djibouti agreement in 2008.
The Swedish Armed Forces are contributing a team of officers to help train the Somali security forces.
FMUndSäkC provides trainers to the mission according to the following criteria.
Position title: Trainer
Unit Role: Provide advice and capacity building to the SNA and develop and support the SNA training.
Branch Role: Provide support, advice and mentoring to help the SNA develop and deliver training.
Position Role: To provide training to various SNA members and develop the training programs of the SNA.
Security Clearance: EU Restricted
Main tasks and responsibilities
• Acts as a course leader when designated to that position.
• Takes an active part in making syllabus and training programs.
• Delivers training and reports when it’s finished.
• Will be prepared to develop Doctrine, procedures and relevant manuals.
• Can be employed to deal with any subject concerning training, except when it takes a deep specialization.
• To provide support to MFCdr/Head of Training when required, in order to meet Mission specific deficiencies.
• To carry out mentor activities when mission evolves its mandate
Personal Qualities
Must show high level of tact and diplomacy and cultural sensitivity to work alongside, and give the lead to, Somali officers. Must be able to build strong personal relationships quickly. Requires a great degree of flexibility to work in what will often be an extremely challenging environment.
