The NPA country office is located in Beirut and the NPA DMAD programme office is located in the South (Tyre), with a field office in the North East. The programme is currently employing over 100 staff and receives funds from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union, the United Kingdom Department for International Development, and the United States Department of State.
In this position your main responsibilities will be:
To monitor, evaluate and conduct on the job trainings with all staff in the Mine Detection Dog (MDD) survey team;
To assist and support the Operations Manager in operational planning and development, and ensure an overall safe execution of all NPA MDD activities in Lebanon;
To ensure the continuous evaluation, development and improvement of all MDD related technical matters in the programme;
To supervise all training and accreditation processes for MDDs, including handlers and team leaders;
To liaise and coordinate with all internal and external partners and other relevant stakeholders in the field as necessary and relevant;
Prepare monitoring reports on operational findings, including lessons learned and documented analysis with specific recommendations for improvement.
To be successful in this role you must have:
Minimum 5 years of experience working with MDDs;
Thorough field experience in using MDDs in humanitarian land release operations;
Documented ability to provide training and competency development of national staff;
Valid International driving permit.
We are looking for candidates with the experience and ability to work independently, be proactive and make decisions as required. Good communication skills, cultural understanding, diplomacy and interpersonal skills is a prerequisite for being successful in this position.
We consider it an advantage if you also have:
IMAS EOD qualifications; Humanitarian mine action experience from the region; Arabic language skills; Good knowledge and understanding of the Middle East and Lebanon's history and culture.
