Senior PSO Soldier Skills Trainer , Zambia

Location: Lusaka Zambia

We are seeking qualified candidates for the Senior PSO Soldier Skills Trainer position supporting The Global Peace Operation Initiative (GPOI) in Lusaka, Zambia.

GPOI is a US Department of State (DOS) security assistance program focused on building international peacekeeping capacity worldwide in close collaboration with the US Department of Defense (DOD). Key objectives of the GPOI program supporting the Zambian Defense Force (ZDF):

- Build Self-Sufficient Peace Operations Training Capacity in Zambia
- Support the ZDF's Development and Employment of Critical Enabling Capabilities
- Enhance the ZDF's Operational Readiness and Sustainment Capabilities
- Strengthen the ZDF's Rapid Deployment Capabilities
- Expand the Role of Women and Enhance Gender Integration

The Senior PSO Soldier Skills Trainer shall be a Combat Arms subject matter expert with direct
experience in overseas program operations focused on training local national military personnel and units. The Senior PSO soldier Skills Trainer shall have a unique blend of skills, experience, and knowledge that will allow that individual to best support the goals and tasks of the GPOI Program. The qualifications are as follows:

Minimum Qualifications: 

Minimum of ten (10) years of U.S. or foreign military operations and training experience in a Combat Arms Specialty: armor, cavalry or infantry

Directly related experience in overseas program operations focused on training local national military personnel and units

Thorough understanding of and prepared to instruct human rights courses (to include gender respect, elimination of sexual exploitation, and child protection), as well as individual health maintenance, individual first aid, HIV/AIDS prevention, and an orientation in United Nations peacekeeping operations

Military Education Level 3 or 4 (Command and General Staff College or NCOES equivalent)

Preferred Qualificatios: 

Recent U.S. Military combat and/ or PSO experience at O-3 to O-5, E-8 or E-9 level
A combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to completion of college course work leading to an advanced degree
Experience operating in areas with limited life support and in hardship conditions
U.S. Military combat arms experience and knowledge or PSO experience and possess the ability to fill the role of TL if required to best support the goals and tasks of the GPOI Program.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

The Senior PSO Soldier Skills Trainer shall supervise the instruction of Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) soldier skills to ZDF military units receiving training. Other duties include:

Instruct and supervise PKO soldier skills training to ZDF company grade officers and their soldiers who shall deploy to PKOs (Soldier Skills Training shall focus on BRM, CQM, Movement formations and techniques, Infantry squad and platoon battle drills, route clearance and Convoy operations, CQM/CQB, C-IED, Recon, Checkpoint operations, crowd control, and cordon and search)

Responsible for ensuring development of Program of Instructions (POI), lesson plans, and training support packages for individual and collective training as noted in each task order

Ensure all training scenarios are based on the most current mission area information from Areas of Operation that ZDF PKO battalions and brigades will deploy to

Training will involve classroom and field locations in austere environments
