We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Mine Action Programming Advisor, based in DCA’s Headquarters in Copenhagen. You will become part of DCA Humanitarian Response and Mine Action (HRMA) Unit which currently consists of 23 employees including 4 roving experts.
The HRMA Unit leads the development and implementation of intervention strategies related to humanitarian response, community safety, and mine action in humanitarian contexts.
Currently, DCA HRMA has programmes in Syria, Iraq, Myanmar, CAR, DR Congo, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, and South Sudan. These programmes include strategic interventions in areas of humanitarian mine action and protection, cash-based programming and risk education, emergency livelihoods, psycho-social support, risk mitigation and capacity building of local actors.
Your Role
The Mine Action Programming Advisor is one of the four Technical Leads within the Humanitarian Response and Mine Action Unit at DCA HQ.
The Mine Action Programming Advisor has a technical capacity in the field of Risk Education, Land Release, Impact Assessment as well as documented experience in donor relations. He/she leads the development and monitoring of relevant programmatic and thematic frameworks, policies and guidelines within the field of integrated Mine Action programming.
The Mine Action Programming Advisor leads the development and refinement of DCA Quality Management Systems (e.g. tools, procedures, standards, etc.) including use of new digital technologies. He/She coordinates the development, systematization and maintenance of DCA capacity within the discipline, ensuring it is aligned with global trends and international standards.
He/she supports the development of new programmes, provides technical input to the strategy development in Country Programmes, as well as supports the development of project proposals. Where necessary and requested, the Mine Action Programming Advisor deploys to support programmes which can include training of staff and partners.
Your profile
You have a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience within the humanitarian sector and have gained a broad experience in the field of mine action, including field experience in a senior position. You also have years of experience in conducting a constructive dialogue with external actors such as partner organizations, the United Nations, and donors. You are accustomed to documenting your work, and have a good knowledge of English and preferably also French, both in speech and in writing.
We put a lot of attention to your personal qualities. As a person we expect you to be result oriented and keen on establishing and maintaining a good working climate. You are analytical, structured, communicative and have the ability to translate theoretical and systematic thinking into practical reality. Furthermore, you have a genuine interest in humanitarian topics, as well as a willingness and motivation to develop and improve DCAs work to integrate mine action with other humanitarian activities. As a person you thrive with broad contact areas and find it easy to collaborate with different people.
You should be able to travel – a minimum of 6-8 weeks of annual international travel should be expected.
Salary and terms of employment
You can expect an interesting and challenging experience addressing humanitarian needs. You become part of a dynamic workplace with a high degree of professionalism and a strong set of values. Working time is 37 hours per week incl. lunch break. Salary is based on DanChurchAid’s collective agreement, with an attractive pension scheme and flextime.
Start date after agreement, but preferably as soon as possible.
