Location: Location is negotiable provided an Oxfam office exists and a contract of employment can be established with the hosting affiliate. Oxfam is unable to provide relocation support for a candidate to take up this role. Candidates must already have and be able to maintain the legal right to take up paid employment in their location. Oxfam is unable to guarantee a work permit for this role.
Contract: 2-year fixed term

The Oxfam International Secretariat is currently headquartered in Nairobi, with offices in Oxford, Washington DC, New York, Brussels, Geneva, and a liaison office with the Africa Union in Addis Ababa.

The Role
Oxfam International Secretariat is looking for a Global Safeguarding Advisor to help deliver Oxfam’s strategy
and program to protect those we work with from sexual exploitation and abuse perpetrated by Oxfam representatives. Specifically, we are looking to equip smaller members of the Oxfam confederation, and the Oxfam International Secretariat with an experienced and professional Safeguarding Advisor to promote good practice and help reach the highest safeguarding standards for both our staff and in the communities where we work. This is done through directly undertaking quality and lawful investigations, supporting others to undertake them, reporting, strategic advice, and building capacity.

The post-holder will specifically develop capacity and understanding, provide expert advice and case management. The role will complement and work with Regional Safeguarding Advisors who support the regional platforms and country teams.

What we're looking for
We are looking for a passionate and experienced professional with very solid experience as an investigator/case manager of safeguarding allegations/cases (including sexual abuse and exploitation of children and adults, child protection and gender-based violence) ideally across a range of contexts, including developing or fragile countries.

You will have strong interpersonal and networking skills, solid experience in the provision of both individual case management as well as strategic advice, and the ability to influence, supporting individual behaviors as well as organizational change. You will have a proven track record in strengthening individual and organizational capacity in investigations and case management, as well as understanding of and adherence to organizational policies and procedures related to safeguarding. You will be comfortable working in complex and diverse organizations, and challenging international environments, and supporting and influencing a geographically diverse set of colleagues.
