The Danish Refugee Council, which is one of the world's leading humanitarian organizations, is currently seeking a highly qualified Mali Safety Officer.

About the position

Present in Mali since 2013, DRC operates in the north in the regions of Gao and Tombouctou, and in the center in the Mopti region, with a management center based in Bamako. The activities focus on four areas: (i) food security and livelihood, financed by the European trust fund, ECHO and Food for Peace, aimed at rebuilding the resilience of communities through cash transfers and recovery projects agricultural; (ii) the reduction of armed violence through inter-community mediation and the training of border security forces by the DDG (Danish Demining Group) technical unit; (iii) the protection of migrants, particularly during the crossing of northern Mali, financed by DFID;

All of these projects are being implemented in areas of growing insecurity, suffering from an increased presence of armed groups and a varied military presence (Barkhane, Malian regular forces, MINUSMA, G5 Sahel). Radical group activities are also numerous in the DRC implementation areas, and teams face a variety of threats, ranging from vehicle and base turnarounds to the presence of FDI on the axes.

Your main obligations and responsibilities will be:
Lead and oversee risk analysis
Improve security plans
Actively participate in writing proposals to donors in close collaboration with the program
Improve the minimum standards of operational safety
Update and / or put in place local safety rules
Update and / or implement Standard Operating Procedures
Update and / or set up contingency plans
Train field staff with Past modules
Train the guards and drivers of DRC DDG
Assess the level of risk and threat to the DRCDDG program in the intervention area while negotiating access to other areas.
Develop a network with NGOs, UN agencies, local authorities, etc.
Provide training, coordination of crisis management and incident management teams
Provide incident reporting and archiving of documentation
Ensure distribution of updated briefing for all visitors.
Ensure that travel forms (TCRs) are completed on time
Participate and represent DRC-DDG in safety meetings
Organize assessment support missions and security analysis on bases when needed
Supervise and train DRC DDG National Security Focal Points
Ensure the presence of DRC at meetings related to security and develop a professional network

About the applicant

The success of this mission requires you to have:
Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent esprit de corps and emotional stability
An ease of communication and proven experience in training

Required
At least 3 years of experience with NGOs or international institutions
Experience from Mali or a similar environment
International Driving License
French written and spoken fluently

Desirable
First aid training
Proficient in English, spoken and written
