Job Desription
Reporting to the Port General Manager, the successful candidate will have personal presence, character and determination as well as ideally having basic understanding of the cruise port and shipping landscape. The Manager is responsible for the efficient use of port facilities and resources with specific responsibilities for health and safety and security. The Manager takes charge of include managing safety, managing staff, and liaising with customers and other port users. The Manager is an organised individual, capable of juggling tasks under pressure
Key Objectives
University degree in logistics, maritime and port, or process/industrial engineering or a marine qualification at least at Masters 1st Class level (including command of a vessel).
Post graduate studies in Port and/or Terminal Management, or related business studies. (nice to have)
Minimum 10 years in operations management roles in marine industry.
Ability to work under pressure, anticipates potential problems and diagnoses, evaluates and resolves logistical problems, as they happen in order to meet operational performance objectives and deadlines.
Familiar with the strict implementation of international standards of safe working practices within marine and security services as an ISPS Officer.
Require an in-depth, comprehensive understanding of cruise port terminal operations, especially tenants and port authority relationships and intensive site organization&inspections
The position requires a Professional Standard of Knowledge to lead teams through functional/general expertise in the Operations and associated functions
Experience in finance related matters, setting budgets and reporting against financial objectives.
Proven project management skills
Good communication skills incl. ability to communicate across the organization.
Excellent analytical skills
Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Fluent in English
Key Responsibilities
Manage, motivate and instruct the team members and contractors, set priorities and structure tasks and goals.
Ensure efficient and effective planning, which meets internal and external service delivery requirements.
Yard Planning: Monitor and adjust yard space allocation on a daily bases, and prepare the workflow for a high quality yard set up.
Ensure that recognized safe working practices are utilized for all terminal operations and maintain effective implementation of safety policies and procedures.
Provide first line of response for emergency situations and damage assessments.
Responsible as an ISPS officer and to ensure that the international standard requirements are met.
Liaises closely with shipping companies, customs agents, logistic companies, Customs, port authorities, and other statutory authorities to ensure that their requirements are met.
Responsibility that all managers and labor in the operation are trained in best operation practices with regards to advanced operations strategies and new technology.
Ensures compliance with HSSE policies & procedures.
Immediate reporting of emergency and damages as they occur, through established channels
Liaise with the tenants for to review, identify and recommend improved operating procedures and systems where required.
