Country Security and Safety Manager

The Opportunity

Plan International South Sudan are recruiting for a Country Safety and Security Manager to lead the development and management of the country safety & security strategy and provide support to the country operations on management of all safety and security issues.

As Safety and Security Manager you will be required to: carry out regular assessments of Juba as well as the Geographical areas of operation, to advise the Country Director and the Country Management Team (CMT) on Security related matters.

You will ensure that staff safety is prioritised and that the Humanitarian Principles are applied when supporting a response.



The environment in South Sudan is exposed to security risks so there is a possibility of evacuation in case of escalation of the armed conflict. As such, South Sudan is currently a non-family duty station.



Do you have what it takes?


In order to succeed in this challenging and varied role, you will require in depth knowledge of security risk management and associated principles, and experience of working in a humanitarian context.

You will also require thorough understanding of the implementation of a Security Management Framework (SMF) and all related processes and procedures.

Demonstrable awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity. Experience living and working in diverse cultural contexts in a culturally appropriate manner. Capacity to make accurate self-assessment particularly in high stress and high security contexts

Proven networking and relationship building skills to include strong negotiation and influencing skills is essential as is an excellent command of English, both written and verbal.

Ability to encourage, motivate and guide team members to approach safety and security issues with confidence especially during crisis
