CWU, Inc. is seeking full-time High Security Technician to support services for the Detainee Educational Services (DESC). This would include the library services and educational seminars of the Joint Detention Group (JDG) and Joint Task Force-Guantanamo Bay (JTF-GTMO).
Qualifications:
Must possess a TS/SCI Security Clearance
Must be fluent in English, Arabic and Pashto
Must be able to read, write and speak all three languages
Interagency Language Round Table (ILR) level 3 in all Target Languages and English
It is preferred that you meet the qualifications for both Library Technician and Seminar Instructor (4 years professional experience in translation, transcription or interpretation. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to type.
Responsibilities:
The High Security Technician is generally expected to spend half the duty day providing library services (e.g., media circulation or review) and the other half instructing seminars. Both of those Responsibilities are below:
Library Technician Responsibilities:
Assist Head Librarian in managing and administering library services
Recommend language materials for purchase and screen for inclusion into the Library collection
Capable of drafting reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals as needed
Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to questions
Seminar Instructor Responsibilities:
Provide seminar instruction in Arabic and/or Pashto and English, as appropriate
(a) Literacy (English, Arabic, and Pashto, as appropriate)
(b) Art
(c) Life Skills / General Education
(d) Nutrition
(e) Horticulture
Shall develop, implement, and teach Literacy seminars in English, Arabic, and Pashto, as appropriate. Literacy seminars shall include reading and writing at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels as appropriate for the individual detainees. The English literacy seminar shall, at a minimum, equip detainees with the ability to understand simple instructions in English and respond appropriately.
Shall develop, implement, and teach an Art seminar. The Art seminar shall focus on engaging the individual interests of detainees. This shall include painting and drawing in several mediums such as watercolor, acrylic, pastels, and charcoal. Additional topics for instruction may include Arabic calligraphy, art history, model building, plaster carving, or any other area of interest with approval
Shall develop, implement, and teach a Life Skills / General Education seminar. This seminar shall focus on developing skills and knowledge used in daily life. Examples of topics that may be taught include math, science, music reading, business finance, computer familiarization, and others based on the interest and engagement of the detainees. Topics and their POI will be approved
Shall develop, implement, and teach a Nutrition seminar. At a minimum, the Nutrition seminar shall cover the principles of nutrition and the scientific foundations of exercise and fitness. Additional topics may be added with approval
Shall develop, implement, and teach a Horticulture seminar. At a minimum, the Horticulture seminar shall cover the principles of horticulture, basic gardening, and include practical experience planting and caring for a garden. Additional topics may be added with approval.
