Security Risk Management Advisers contribute to the safety and security of our staff and operations and thereby support the successful implementation of development programmes and cooperation.
Your tasks
As a Senior Security Risk Management Advisor (S-SRMA) you will be responsible for all aspects of conceptual and day-to-day operational security risk management in a high-risk environment, including any emergency and evacuation scenarios. In particular, you will be responsible for
Leading and managing a team of national and international SRMA in various locations through Iraq
Implementing, maintaining and improving the professional SRM system (SRMS)
Contributing to the country-specific conceptual security risk management (SRM) framework and strategy
Maintaining good relations and continuous communication with a large number of local and national authorities, as well as international organisations
Continuously analysing the security situation in the region in general, and at the project locations in particular
Providing latest information about any changes in the security situation and sound advice based thereon to the team leader of the RMO/the Country Director, i.e. regarding mitigation measures
Briefing the head of the RMO and the Corporate Security Unit in Germany on the security situation, district profiles and about incidents
Monitoring and ensuring compliance with directives by the Country Director
Overseeing the compilation of security risk, conflict and stakeholder analyses
Overseeing the development of Standard Operating Procedures
Overseeing the development of emergency and hibernation, relocation and evacuation plans Supporting the head of the RMO/the Country Director in crisis management at country level, including debriefings and drafting of lessons-learnt
Developing skills of RMO staff, particularly SRMA and Junior SRMA
Your profile
University degree in SRM, crisis management, regional studies or political science, or in a comparable subject area
Minimum five (5) years of operational work experience in SRM in development and/or humanitarian assistance within fragile regions, preferably in leading positions and managerial responsibilities In-depth knowledge of humanitarian SRM concepts, methods and instruments as well as managing SRM teams in the field
In-depth knowledge of Iraq and the Iraqi culture, the processes and stakeholders involved in German development cooperation, especially in fragile and violent contexts, experience in project management is a plus
Highly developed advisory skills to convincingly communicate the relevance of SRM Proven coping skills with working in a constantly and rapidly changing context and under high pressure
Thorough knowledge and understanding of conflict-sensitive approaches, and experience in the application thereof
Fluency in English and German, Arabic skills are a plus
Military or police background is neither necessary nor sufficient, but may be considered in combination with work experience in the field of SRM

Freedom of movement is very limited.
