About the role:
We are seeking a Regional Security Manager (RSM) to support our programmes across our West Africa regional portfolio. This is a new position and the primary function of the RSM will be to provide advice to the Regional and Country Directors on all safety and security issues, as they relate to staff, assets and operations. The RSM will monitor and assess security conditions, and make recommendations to the Regional Director, Senior Managers in Country and Global Security Manager as appropriate. A solid understanding of NGO security management is a key requirement for the role, as is effective communication with key internal and external stakeholders. This is a great opportunity to use your extensive technical knowledge and experience in security management to support an organisation working hard to improve the lives of communities in challenging environments.
The RSM will report into the Regional Director for the West Africa portfolio who is based at HQ. The base location will be in Dakar, Senegal, but with extensive travel throughout the region.
About you:
The successful candidate will have considerable experience of security planning and implementation, preferably gained in the context of relief operations in highly insecure areas. The ability to analyse rapidly changing security environments, and react appropriately is also essential. Candidates should ideally also have experience of working in the West Africa region. In addition, you must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and liaison skills with an awareness of diplomacy and tact. Areas of operations are often remote with basic amenities, so applicants will need to be able to deal with living and working in challenging environments. Both Verbal and written English and French language skills are essential for this role.

Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You will have a minimum of six weeks out of the programme per year, pro-rated to the length of the contract.
Flights: will provide three leave flight per annum.
Insurance: All international staff are automatically covered by comprehensive insurance package including: Personal accident and medical expenses insurance; Death by natural causes insurance and access to 24-hour medical assistance including evacuation and repatriation.
