Safety & Security Lead

We are looking for an experienced individual to join us as Safety & Security Lead, promoting the safety and security of all SCUK staff members and guests/visitors in the UK and for those who travel and work internationally on behalf of the organisation.

Our Support Services department provides leadership and direction in the business of running an efficient organisation and ensuring our resources are used to maximum effect. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

As Safety & Security Lead you will contribute to effective safety and security management by providing SCUK staff with access to quality technical advice, information, training, and guidance on SCUK/SCI safety and security policies and standards. You will also provide consistent safety and security support with key points of impact being: policy development and change, training and augment the profile of safety and security. In addition you will:

· Identify safety and security risks to SCUK by liaising with internal teams and make recommendations to mitigate such risks
· Develop and implement relevant security policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure the safety and security of SCUK operations
· Monitor daily security bulletins to identify key alerts and emerging trends and prduce and distribute communications to appropriate recipients
· Provide pre-departure briefings for SCUK staff travelling to high and very high-risk countries
· Plan and coordinate security operations for specific SCUK events

To be successful you will have substantial experience of operating in insecure environments with direct responsibilities of safety and security management. Approachable and understanding, you will have excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with experience of working on cross organisational initiatives. You will also hold a degree in a related discipline such as, International Development, International relations or equivalent experience. In addition you will have:

· The ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders, effectively influencing outcomes in areas where the role has limited or no direct authority
· Evidenced experience in security with excellent written and spoken English communication skills
· The ability to absorb information and analyse implications rapidly and provide sound advice in highly pressurised situations
· Good basic project management skills
· A high level of computer literacy.
