Based in the Maldives, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly talented and motivated Security Managerto join our Security team.
Purpose
Creating and overseeing the Resort and Staff Village security and safety. Directly control and coordinate all security activities ensuring that the property’s facilities, buildings and equipment, guests and staff alike and their property are safe from malicious damage, theft, accidents, etc..
Overseeing Security operations to include supervision and training of the Security Officers to maintain overall safety and that correct procedures are adhered to.
About the Role
Maintain full and accurate records associated with the complete function of security /safety role
Develop and implement in conjunction with the resort’s management team, policies and procedures for security, loss control and key control to ensure that all resort property is safe from malicious damage or theft.
To follow, implement and train the Security team on standard operating procedures for security.
To be familiar with all procedures related to fire prevention and evacuation and to ensure prompt decision making with regards to the safety and security of guests and employees.
Initiate and pursue the prosecution of any person detected committing felonious acts against the resort, guest, visitor, team members or management and reporting any act to the Resort Management.
Continually review the performance of security services employed by the resort and the individuals assigned to the property ensuring that guest are treated with appropriate courtesy and that an efficient security service is provided
Closely monitor entry and exit to colleagues and visitors to the resort to ensure that resort property is secure and not subject to theft or pilfering and those unauthorized visitors are prevented from entering the resort premises.
Assist Human Resources in overseeing the security of the Staff Village and any associated activities.
Liaise with the Director of HR in conducting work related investigations of losses or claims or accident and injury. And also assisting in room inspection, clearance of colleagues, and on disciplinary investigation.
Regularly liaise with Management to promote the safe, secure efficient and harmonious operation of the resort.
Gather information and provide recommendations in regards to security equipment and initiate operator training for use and programmed maintenance of any equipment’s installed.
Continually evaluate and provide recommendations to the improvement of security procedures in various department paying particular attention to storage / key control / stock control / decoding in-bungalow safes and personal security of guest and team members
Do the daily round checks and supervise colleagues going to guest area
Maintenance
Make sure to inform any hazards or dangerous equipment’s or maintenance issues around the resort to the Chief Engineer.
Inspect all areas are kept clean around the guest area and team village areas
Team Development
Conduct a daily briefing with the security team. Daily round checks, routine cleaning/maintenance sessions etc should be discussed during this meeting.
Ensure team motivation is of a high level. Conduct regular department meetings to discuss team performance, new operational or product initiatives and to encourage general communication. Providing regular feedback to employees on performance and teamwork through counselling or coaching sessions.
Train all the Security team members on Standard Operating procedure to maintain consistency in the procedures of the resort safety, work place health and safety regulations, company environmental policy, Formal Training Programs, Operational Checklists, Policies, Procedures, Product Specifications, on-the-job training sessions etc. and ensuring that these standards are adhered to at all times.
Ensure day-to-day security is maintained and the security on duty is on call and prepared for any emergency or incident.
Prepare weekly/fortnightly rosters for all the Security team, ensuring manning levels are in line with budget and occupancy levels. Checking and signing of all timesheets prior to forwarding them to Human Resources at the completion of each month.
Conduct interviews for the recruitment of new employees as appropriate.
Administrative
Communicate with other departments regarding security issues, procedures and safety changes etc.
Prepare reports detailing the operations of the Security Department, as required.
Visitor pass to be check and issue
Registering outgoing and incoming items
Management of the Lost and Found system
Check and follow up on the daily log book of security on duty
General
Keep updated on changes to other areas of resort product and communicating such information to the entire Security team on an ongoing basis.
Maintaining excellent grooming and hygiene ensuring all grooming standards are met in relation to personal grooming and uniform presentation.
Complying with Resort Safety & Environment policies, initiatives and legislation.
Abiding by all Work Place Health, Safety and Hygiene regulations at all times.
Carrying out any other duties as directed by the General Manager / Resort Manager
Undertake any reasonable request made by management.
Actively participate in Human Resources, Learning and Development initiatives that will help the Resort to deliver higher levels of service to our guests and our compliance to good health and safety practices at the workplace.
To support by assisting with on-the-job training and orientation of new team members/trainees and other reasonable requests in order to improve the performance and service standards of our team.
As a member of the leadership team, to coach, support and develop his/her team members, wherever required. This is in conjunction to promote opportunities for development and towards future success of our resort & the company.
About You
In order for you to be considered for th is role, you will have / be:
Experience in a five star property in a similar position, at least five (5) experience
Knowledge of fire fighting equipment
Knowledge in investigation
First aid and CPR trained
Strong personality who fosters good team working relations
Positive with a ‘can-do’ attitude
Experience working in a multicultural team including working in an isolated resort environment
Flexible working hours, hands on, patient, people’s person and very service oriented
Excellent organizational skills, able to multitask and meet deadlines
Excellent command of written and spoken English
