To standardise and strengthen security management systems across PNG we are looking to recruit a Security Manager to provide hands on, practical advice and support to Management, Security Focal Points and Team Leaders.

This role is open to local and international applicants and will be based residentially in Port Moresby.

Your responsibilities will include –

Promoting a strong security culture that is commensurate to the security threats Cardno are exposed to in PNG
Coordinating the security work effort of all Cardno PNG entities to deliver a standardised and harmonised approach to security management
Leading the Security Management Team with the development, and reviews of security plans and procedures, security risk assessments, crisis management plans, security contingency plans, journey management plans and medical plans
Generation and distribution of High Priority security notifications, alerts and advisories
Managing the centralised security incident reporting system
Providing security training to Security Focal Points
External liaison with Security Providers, Diplomatic Missions, Security Networks, Police etc.
Being on standby to coordinate the response in emergency cases.
As the Cardno PNG Country Security Manager, you will have the specialised security knowledge and technical skills relevant to the PNG security landscape. You will be able to identify, analyse, and act on information from a range of sources and be able to transmit information and skills to others. You will also be able to demonstrate autonomy, initiative, and sound judgement.

To be successful you will demonstrate the following -

Demonstrated experience in a similar role
The ability to effectively respond to, and function in crises, or in other high stress emergency situations
A sound working knowledge of communications technology (i.e. radio systems, satellite phone, internet, and cell phone systems).
Competency in Microsoft word-processing, spreadsheets, and visual presentations
Fluency in verbal and written English

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of security policy and operating procedures.
Ability to establish networks in POM and throughout PNG within the security community
Experience working across multi-discipline teams, in varied work locations while taking a collaborative approach.
Demonstrated ability to provide security training and briefings
Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with managers, employees, government, law enforcement and private security.
Ability to mentor and capacity build personnel
