Security Guard Lieutenant

The Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission is to provide Naval Warfare Centers, the Fleet, and other customers with accurate undersea, surface, and in-air three-dimensional tracking data and other unique Atlantic test facilities. In support of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and Fleet readiness assessment and training. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments.



Responsible for managing the Security Guard functions of assigned personnel and following all Security Rules and Procedures as required, establishing the proper chain of command for resolution of physical security concerns to the Physical Security Chief on the AUTEC project.



Responsibilities:

Performs required supervision of 4-6 scheduled security guards and Guard-Dispatchers.
Trains, schedules, and conducts performance assessments.
Recommends disciplinary actions.
Counsels staff of department procedures and company policy.
Develops and maintains good rapport and working relations with both internal and external customers, departments, and community.
Makes assignments, reviews, and/or prepares required reports when needed.
Fills static posts, vehicle, and other compliance checks, and other related duties.
In his absence, assumes the duties and responsibilities of the Physical Security Chief.
Perform other duties as assigned.


Experience:

AS/AA degree in Criminal Justice or equivalent education/experience.
Five or more years of experience or related experience working in the Military, Civilian, Industrial Security or comparable environment.
Pass a physical examination given by a licensed physician or health care professional.
Must be competent in Microsoft Office
Must have the knowledge and skills to interpret detailed guidelines and procedures
Must remain highly focused and alert for extended periods of time
Dependable and assertive for shift work and supervisory oversight requirements
Individuals shall have no hearing loss in better ear greater than 30 decibels average at 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with no level greater than 40 decibels at any one frequency.
Must be able to push/carry/pull up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Physically required to perform all tasks implied in the performance of security guard duties
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.
This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance; US Citizenship is required.
Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.
A valid US Passport and Driver’s License is required.
