Your tasks
You are involved in the development of the security risk and crisis management system of GIZ
You advise the company’s operating units on the integration of security-relevant measures in programs and projects worldwide
You represent the corporate security unit on security-relevant issues in project preparation sessions and reviews
You review existing security concepts abroad based on the standards of GIZ’s Security Risk Management System
You advise the country directors and security risk management advisors in the field on company-wide minimum security standards, security risk analyses, site security assessments, the preparation and implementation of standard operating procedures as well as in emergency and business continuity management (BCM), incident reporting and the preparation of after action reviews and lessons learned reports
If required, you also support directly through missions in the field, also in high-risk countries
You support the set-up of alternative communication systems as well as the operation of tracking systems
The regional focus of this position are countries in sub-Saharan Africa, currently focusing on French-speaking Africa
You advise on all aspects of travel security as well as creating and extending the network of national and international actors
You support the work of the headquarter crisis management team in emergencies and crises, as a member of the team
You are involved in the assessment and evaluation of security incidents In alternation with other team members, you will be responsible for the GIZ emergency phoneAnd any other tasks directed by the team leader
You will assume emergency station duties and accept emergency calls during emergency and crisis situations beyond normal duty hours, in alternation with other team members

GIZ’s Corporate Security Unit is the central point of contact for all questions related to safety and security of staff. The Corporate Security Unit coordinates the headquarters crisis management team for all incidents in Germany and worldwide affecting GIZ.
The Corporate Security Unit advises executive staff on the development and implementation of a professional security risk and crisis management system in the field including risk assessments, risk mitigation measures, and emergency procedures. The Unit elaborates the conceptual principles standards of security risk and crisis management for GIZ, monitors security advice and travel alerts worldwide, and provides assessments of current situations at a regional and global level. We work in a team of six advisors on security risk and crisis management. The team cooperates in the field of security and crisis management closely with COPE, the psychosocial counselling unit of GIZ.
