Responsibilities
Within the limits of delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for performing the following duties:
•Prepares, develops, updates, implements and ensures that functioning and effective security and contingency plans for the Mission, designated geographic area or, as required.
•Develops and implements Security Standard Operating Procedures applicable to his/her unit operation.
• Contributes to security risk assessments within the mission area; Monitors accessible areas; Identifies gaps in existing capability and makes recommendation for amendment where necessary.
•Develop necessary policies to facilitate security operations activities and coordinate crisis response with JOC, JMAC and UNPOL FPU.
•Establishes lines of communication and meets regularly with security focal points, UN personnel, Host Government authorities, as well as Civilian Police components of field missions to plan and review security related matters.
•Assesses prevailing local security conditions, identifying security trends and advising UN staff, project personnel and dependents on potential security problems, such as mines, kidnapping, armed attacks, arrest and detention.
•Maintains an ongoing evaluation of air, land and sea evacuation routes and resources for use in emergencies, ensuring the availability of vehicles, aircraft, vessels, fuel supply and assessable roads.
•Monitors and evaluates office physical security measures, and conducts security surveys of installations and facilities; Coordinates implementation of security arrangements by the guard force management, as recommended by the security risk assessments.
•Maintains dialog with authorities and international institutions such as Red Cross/Red Crescent in the event of natural disasters.
•Obtain, study and implement all security policy promulgated by the Inter-Agency Security Management Network (IASMN).
•Investigates security-related incidents involving Security Management System personnel , project personnel or eligible dependent.
•Conducts security training in such subjects as the security management system, responsibilities of individually deployed police personnel in different departments Wardens and personal security awareness.

A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience in military, police or security management may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
