Regional Security Advisor,Middle East

The total salary package for this position is £37,384 - £40,972 per annum* including basic salary, hardship allowance and cost of living allowance.


About the role:
We are currently recruiting for a Regional Security Advisor (RSA) to support all of our programmes across our Middle East regional portfolio. This is a new position and the primary function of the RSA will be to provide advice to the Regional and Country Directors on all safety and security issues, as they relate to staff, assets and operations. The RSA will monitor and assess security conditions, and make recommendations to the Regional Director, Country Directors and the Global Security Advisor as appropriate. A solid understanding of NGO security management is a key requirement for the role, as is effective communication with key internal and external stakeholders. This is a great opportunity to use your extensive technical knowledge and experience in security management to support an organisation working hard to improve the lives of communities in a very challenging environment. The RSA will report into the Regional Director for the Middle East, The base location will be Erbil but with extensive travel throughout the region.



About you:

The successful candidate will have considerable experience of security planning and implementation, preferably gained in the context of relief operations in highly insecure areas. The ability to analyse rapidly changing security environments, and react appropriately is also essential. Candidates should ideally also have experience of working in the Middle East Region. In addition, you must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and liaison skills with an awareness of diplomacy and tact. Areas of operations are often remote with basic amenities, so applicants will need to be able to deal with living and working in challenging environments. Verbal and written English is essential for this role, with Arabic language skills being beneficial.

Salary: The total salary package for this position is £37,384 - £40,972 per annum*.
Accommodation: We will provide accommodation in-country.
Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You will have a minimum of six weeks out of the programme per year, pro-rated to the length of the contract. As Iraq is a hardship programme staff are also be entitled to an additional 10 days leave per year, pro-rated.
Flights: We will provide three leave flight per annum.
Insurance: All international staff are automatically covered by  comprehensive insurance package including: Personal accident and medical expenses insurance; Death by natural causes insurance and access to 24-hour medical assistance including evacuation and repatriation.
