Palladium is looking for a Security Manager for an upcoming humanitarian and resilience programme currently being tendered by DFID. The role is intended to provide security support to the main UK based programme team and its partners.

The Security Manager will provide comprehensive security support to the standing team as well as deployed experts. They will contribute to the development of security plans and build capacity for large scale and rapid responses. They will work with a range of stakeholders to support lessons learning and contribute to the strategic development of the programme in the longer term. The role is contingent on Palladium being awarded the contract.
Monitor security risks and issues in the countries of programme delivery.
Analyse information and make recommendations on rapidly changing situations.
Develop basic security plans, Standard Operating Procedures, and scenario-specific contingency plans for serious security incidents.
Support deployed experts with comprehensive security briefing and integration into operational security platforms.
Support stakeholder engagement and partnership development.
Support effective communication with DFID Country Offices and across the HMG.
Support preparedness planning exercises and simulations.
Work with partners on the design and delivery of key training or capacity building initiatives for staff, DFID and other partners.

Experience and knowledge
Educated to university degree level or above, preferably holding a Master's degree in a relevant field.
At least 10 years experience in security support provision for large and complex humanitarian or stabilisation programmes.
Experience working in a range of crisis contexts including natural disasters and complex emergencies.
Experience of supporting multi-actor responses (i.e. civil and military)
Understanding of Security Risk Assessment (SRA) and Security Risk Management (SRM) approaches to security management for humanitarian experts.
Understanding of security challenges faced by humanitarian experts and the general types of responses that are being taken to meet security threats in the field by UN, Red Cross Movement, and NGO partners.
Experience working with donor (preferably DFID) funded programmes.

Skills and competencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build relationships and networks with a range of stakeholders.
Strong expertise in providing support to complex programmes, including managing and mentoring senior members of staff.
Willingness to deploy at short notice to support emergency response efforts.
Knowledge of additional languages is an asset.
