Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
The British Embassy in Berne is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a part-time Security Officer.
The successful candidate main duties will involve general embassy security work, reception and telephone duties, welcoming visitors to the Embassy, and can also on occasion include driving official vehicles.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Providing a secure working environment for Foreign and Commonwealth Office Staff.
Provide a high level customer service while handling telephone calls and visitors.
Fire, First Aid and Health & Safety responsibilities.
Function as a professional back up Driver
Provide key support to Corporate Services
Flexibility to work 100% when circumstances require.

Essential qualifications and experience
Fluency in English, spoken and written, and a good knowledge of German.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus.
A team player, able to work with contacts and colleagues at all levels.
Personal drive and the ability to be a self-starter.
Flexible resilient under pressure and decisive, with a proven track record of delivering results to a high standard within deadlines.
Desirable qualifications and experience
Experience in Security, Health and Safety and implementing processes.
Good knowledge of French

Other benefits and conditions of employment
This is a permanent part-time (75%) position of 30 hours net per week, working 6 hours per day on a shift system of either 07:30-13:30 or 11:30-17:30, subject to a probation period of 3 months.
Monthly salary for this position is 3755 CHF gross, payable 13 times a year.
The annual leave entitlement is 25 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys an average of 14 public holidays per year.
Specific training and mentoring for the role will be provided for the successful candidate. This may include training in London and the European region.
The sucessful candidate is expected to start work in early March 2017 and will be subject to professional background and security clearance.
