NRC is now looking to recruit an experienced Security Manager for Afghanistan

Our ideal candidate is
A solid Security Manager/Advisor with experience from high-risk, humanitarian context;and at least 5 years of NGO experience in a complex humanitarian/recovery context.
The position requires advanced analytical capacity, together with operational experience in insecure/post-conflict environments and a strong understanding of the humanitarian community.
We are particularly looking for an inspiring individual, with strong leadership and influencing skills, who can confidently navigate challenging relationships both internally and externally. Excellent English skills, and sound knowledge of the Afghan humanitarian and operational context are essential.

In this position you will join highly motivated and expert staff who are making a difference to the most vulnerable people in one of the world's longest protracted displacement crises.

Job description
Develop and implement of the NRC Security Management System for Afghanistan;
Facilitate safe programming and operations in Afghanistan and ensure appropriate duty of care for NRC staff;
Conduct Security Risk Analysis (SRA) according to minimum operational requirements (MOSS);
Minimise security risks to NRC operations;
Manage security staff in the Kabul country office and matrix manage all field-based security team members;
Prepare security reports, as required by program, grants, donors and management;
Liaise with relevant external security actors in country and in the region;
Participate in formal and informal security-related fora;
Train and develop staff in safety and security.
Support CD and CMG in facilitating effective staff wellbeing

Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience of working as a Security Manager/Advisor in a high-risk, humanitarian context;
Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts;
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile;
Fluency in English, both written and verbal;
Valid driver’s license.
Knowledge of the current security and humanitarian context in Afghanistan;
Sound personal networks among security professionals and agencies in Afghanistan;
Previous experience managing security for international NGOs in high-risk contexts.

We offer
Commencement: late 2016 or early 2017
Contract period: 18 months
Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s International terms and conditions.
Duty station: Kabul with frequent travel to NRC field offices
This is an unaccompanied post/non-family duty station, with shared accommodation of moderate standard.
Due to high levels of insecurity, recreational and social facilities are very limited.
All international staff working in Afghanistan are obliged to pay income tax.
Medical certificate will be required before contract commencement.
