Your tasks
Management of the team of 23 staff members in Yemen to establish and maintain a state of the art Security Risk Management System
Develop appropriate and context specific security guidelines
Collect relevant information and analyze the security situation in Yemen and it´s various regions, specifically in areas of programme implementation. You compile risk, conflict and actor analysis, incident and security reports, district profiles and further relevant reporting formats.
Implementation of the GIZ minimum security standards, establishing of emergency and evacuation plans, as well as managing the daily operational risk management
Establish and maintain a reliable information network, including local and national authorities, national and international NGOs, embassies and other relevant governmental and non-governmental actors
Updating staff about the current security situation as well as issuing security advice and directives
During crisis situations and emergencies you provide support to the Country Director and Senior Management in the crisis management
Oversee site security measures of offices and residences, according to GIZ rules and regulations

Your profile
Master’s Degree in security, risk, crisis and disaster management, international relations, peace and conflict studies or another relevant field
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in security risk management of development, humanitarian and/ or international organizations in fragile contexts required. Experience in setting-up and maintaining security risk management systems in the humanitarian and development context is a must
Sound understanding of conflict and political context in Yemen
Sound knowledge of German development cooperation and experience of Do-No-Harm and conflict sensitive programme planning and implementation
Excellent analytical skills and ability to relay information and analysis in an easily digestible and accessible manner
Excellent communication and advisory skills, which allow you to explain the relevance of the security risk management to both internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work systematically and autonomously with little guidance and ability to make sound, rational decisions in critical situations
Experience in conducting and facilitating trainings
Willingness to regularly travel to Yemen and other middle eastern countries, including to remote destinations
Fluency in English is a must, good German and/or Arabic language skills are an asset
