Job Description
All Security Managers are required to embrace and promote the Global Security mission. While maintaining the desired level of security system effectiveness, the Site Security Manager will be responsible for guard force management, deploying, implementing, providing assistance and auditing the security programs at the site to ensure they are in compliance with the Global Security Standardization Program. The position will report administratively to the Vice President and General Manager Tasiast and Operationally to the Regional Security Manager.


Security Responsibilities 
Incumbent’s office will be at the Projects Group
Relationship building with Project Management, personnel and contractors
Develop Project Security Plan
Collaborate with Global Security Manager, Projects and Exploration for electronic security system design
Develop Project Vulnerability Assessment and mitigation strategies
Comply with and maintain Kinross GSSP as related to project security
Ensure proper hand over notes to the Security Manager standing in during rotations
Shall represent the Security Department on Projects meetings and discussions
Shall have regular meetings with Projects Security team
Shall be committed to develop and train nationals in the Project Security team
Be part of the Tasiast Security Team
Specific Tasks
Respond to incident that may require managerial supervision and input
Guard force planning and management to provide security for projects
Develop Security Event Response Plans for the project and contractors focused outside the fence
Kidnap for ransom
Armed attack
Hostage situation
Vehicle accidents
Daily security briefings to Project Security Team – Copy Operations Security on Briefings
Investigations into thefts and other security incidents from the project and contractors
Maintaining SIMS for project elated incidents
Collect information and forward to the Regional Security Manager
Military situation
Project personnel situation
Project area situation
Other areas
Responsibility for implementing the Kinross Way for project security by managing the GSSP and ensuring general compliance.
Monitor and report on project action plans to mitigate security deficiencies.
Provide security briefing and awareness training to all first time visitors, expatriates as required under the GSSP

Evacuation briefing
Advise senior project and contractor management regarding security threats and protection strategies.
Develop, and disseminate security risk reports to the Regional Security Manager for locations where Kinross operates.
Coordinate with the Travel Desk to ensure Security for all contracts personnel
Interacts with and provides support for project and contractor senior management for matters such as difficult terminations, investigations, special event security, and other security related matters.

Education and Experience
Bachelor degree in criminal justice, security management, or related field.
Experience executing security programs and initiatives in developing countries.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience within the security, military or law enforcement community.
Minimum of five (5) years of industrial security or infrastructure protection experience.
Understanding of host government public security forces and their roles when providing assistance.
Able to articulate well, with excellent presence when briefing management on security program plans and activities.
Excellent written and speaking communications skills at all levels of management.
Ability to effectively deal with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Able to review, analyze, and extract data from various sources.
Intelligent, persuasive, and articulate leader who is able to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical individuals.
Proficient in the use of computers and other communications devices to include MS Office package.
Able to function independently, under pressure, and perform multiple security duties with minimal supervision or guidance.



Additional Qualifications & Skill Requirements
Understanding of mining processes.
Well-developed incident report writing and presentation skills.
Demonstrated experience with project management techniques or related skills.
Experience in developing, forecasting, and managing budgets.
Strong communications skills.
Must speak English and French (at a high level in terms of speaking)
Business continuity and/or crisis management experience.
Team player with a strong inclination towards developing co-operative solutions.
Ability to learn quickly.
