Role overview 
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Director of Global Safety and Security to support VSO International and International Citizen Service (ICS). VSO works in 20+ countries and as lead agency is responsible for the ICS Consortium, consisting of 10 agencies working with young volunteers in 30 countries. This role is maternity leave cover and will line manage and work closely with the Global Security Officer and the International Medical Manager to ensure that VSO and ICS model excellence in the management of safety and security across their entire portfolio.

Skills, qualifications and experience required 
As the successful candidate, you will have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in the global security sector preferably with a non-profit or INGO with demonstrated capabilities in strategic planning at global level and in the field. You have a comprehensive understanding of global security and incident management, with strong experience of implementing security strategies and policies. You will have a track record of managing crises and substantial and documented experience in conducting security training at personal and management level to a wide range of audiences. Experience of working with volunteers and the target youth demographic and experience in the medical field and working with an in house medical team would be an advantage. This role will include regular international travel. Candidates should be able to work flexibly.
