Protective Security Specialist / Senior Guard Shift Supervisor (PSS / SGSS)
Department/Program/Project Overview:
Under the Diplomatic and Antiterrorism Act of 1986, the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) within the Department of State (DoS) has a broad range of responsibilities that include protection of personnel and facilities both domestic and abroad. The Worldwide Protective Services (WPS) initiative is an effort by the Department of State to pre-plan, organize, establish, deploy and operate security services for the protection of U.S. and/or foreign governments wherever and whenever the need arises. The Basrah, Iraq task order provides a large number of contract personnel to provide protective services to the Consulate General compound and DoS Foreign Service Officers (FSO) undertaking activities assigned to this mission.
Purpose:
The Protective Security Specialist / Senior Guard Shift Supervisor (PSS/SGSS) is responsible for directly supervising and implementing task order static security protocols. By undertaking these duties the SGSS, on a shift basis, provides the supervision, accountability, oversight and direction necessary to maintain continuity and control over a large static force necessary to manage effectively and deliver against the overarching security plan.

Role and Responsibilities:
• Manage static security operations on a daily basis
• Directly supervises Senior Guard Supervisors (SGS)
• Ensures that all posts and detail positions are properly staffed and that the detail
is operating smoothly in accordance with schedule and preset plans
• Ensures that all active Static Patrols are properly deployed and ready to respond
• Directs and controls response actions, if required, through radio communications during all movements
• Designated as “key personnel ”and authorized to fill the Protective Security Specialist position

• Provide individual performance reporting and evaluation for GIS American contractor, TCN and
LN personnel assigned to the LGF detail
• Ensure that services are provided and operational security requirements are met on time, within
the scope of the contract

General
• Exceptional tactical skills
• Preference given to those who currently possess posses a U.S. Secret security clearance
• Preference given to those who currently possess valid WPS training certificates
• Desired Middle East theater background or experience
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written, is essential

• Demonstrated professional maturity in an operational context
• Able to make quick, appropriate decisions under stress
