Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Armament Repair Lead, performs a full range of work involved in troubleshooting, repair, service and maintenance of small arms and other infantry weapons; and towed artillery.
Major Job Activities:
1. Determines the nature and extent of repairs required; disassembles and examines parts and assemblies for serviceability; replaces parts and assemblies as required. (45%)
2. Repairs, replaces, and/or modifies barrel assemblies, upper receivers, lower receiver, gas tubes, gas rings, feed trays, feed pawls, buffer, and their related components. (15%)
3. Determines serviceability of parts; exercises initiative to maintain productive progress and accepts responsibility for the results. (10%)
4. Safely uses common hand-tools and shop equipment effectively without assistance. (10%)
5.. Diagnoses and determines remedies for failures commonly encountered in the repair of tow artillery or small arms weapons, with little or no supervision, using a variety of diagnostic techniques and practices. (10%)
6. Assists other employees in the proper repair maintenance procedures and capabilities of small arms and tow artillery maintenance and related TMDE. (5%)
7. Performs other duties and assignments as required. (5%)MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
Computers including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Artillery or General Mechanic tool boxes, TM’s, Multimeter and special tools needed to accomplish the task.
Working Environment
Work is generally conducted in an office environment. However, duties may involve working in the out of doors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions, specifically desert heat. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire and Safety Regulations and published company work rules. Must be able to lift/ push/ pull 40 lbs. The outside work environment maybe very hot due to conditions within the region. Standing, sitting, squatting and other normal office related physical activities required.
Physical Activities:
Work is generally conducted in a warehouse environment. However, duties may occasionally involve working outside with a potential exposure to extreme temperatures. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Must comply with all fire and safety regulations as well as post policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience:
A minimum of two years of related work experience and responsibilities. Prior military experience is a plus.
Skills: Computer, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required. Computer skills include a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
