Role Summary:The primary responsibility of the Security Manager is to oversee the day-to-day management of the Security Department by providing leadership and direction. The Security Manager ensures that the overall safety and security of our guests and colleagues is our number one priority, and ensures the implementation of hotel-wide security measures. The Security Manager acts as a liason within the community and downtown core to other hotels and maintains awareness of current security issues.
This position requires exceptionally strong communication and a collaborative approach with all hotel leadership team members and departmental colleagues.

Key interpersonal skills required include listening, advocating, negotiating and communicating straightforward and complex information. The Security Managers responsibilities also includes, but is not limited to:
- Working with both public and private security services to protect and safeguard all guests (i.e. VIP visits).
- The key owner of the hotels emergency procedures and crisis planning.
- Provide First Aid and CPR as required and respond to all emergency situations.
- Ensure the effective implementation of and adherence to Delta Hotels and Resorts Brand Standards.
- Know and understand the various Federal, Provincial and Municipal Acts including Trespass to Property, Innkeepers Act, Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the powers of arrest.
- Resolving guest safety concerns through service recovery and working collaboratively with fellow leaders and colleagues, to implement change when necessary.
- Carry out all necessary investigations as they pertain to safety and security.
- Managing the recruitment, training and development of security colleagues, with a strong focus on engagement, productivity, health & safety and elevated guest experience.
- Foster a coaching culture that encourages colleagues to achieve personal and professional success.
- A key member of the hotels emergency and fire procedures and general crisis management team.
- In collaboration with the Director of Rooms, develop and implement a business continuity plan and crisis response procedures.
Qualifications:
- Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including weekends when necessary. Hours of work will be scheduled based on business volumes/operational demands and may vary.
- Graduate of a certified college Hospitality Law and Security Diploma or University Degree is a definite asset. Must have valid Ontario Security License.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in hotel security and/or high-rise tower security systems is an asset.
- Previous management/leadership experience.
- Proven ability as an effective leader, possessing a high degree of professionalism, sound human resources and administrative skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Computer literate in Window’s based applications
- Results oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well in a busy and demanding environment.
- Proven experience building positive and collaborative teams who are focused on providing exceptional guest experiences.
- Must be energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated.
- A background check will be required for this position.
