Regional Security Program Coordinator

Basic Purpose and Function
Serve as key liaison and contact for designated programmatic area and provides administrative, logistical, and research support to one or more programmatic area.

In particular the Program Coordinator will coordinate the planning and the execution of Regional Security programmatic initiatives with a current focus on the MENA (Middle East & North Africa) and the challenge of Countering Violent Extremism (CVE), including engagement of Iran. In line with EWI’s mandate, the institute’s MENA work strives to improve regional and international relationships, policies, and security associated with critical problematic areas for the purpose of concrete policy recommendations. S/he will be part of a small, dynamic team but will also be required to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure, under the supervision of the MENA director, timely and effective implementation of program activities.
• Build partnerships and mobilize support for the program including: drafts project proposals; identify and develop partnerships; promote the development of the program through research, outreach, and advocacy in Europe as well as regional countries.
• Engage with Development department in grant management: communicate with current and prospective donors; draft narrative and financial reports to existing donors.
• Build up and ensure consistent communications with networks of contacts, including international and regional organizations, governments, parliamentarians, and civil society, particularly in Europe and the MENA region.
• Provide research support and written contributions to articles, briefing papers, and reports for publication.
• Help manage a designated program budget, forecast, and monitor trends in expenditures.
• Supervise and coordinate work of interns (if applicable).
• Develop and executes social media and online strategy of the Regional Security program.
• Monitoring and managing budget of specific parts of the Regional Security Initiative
• Monitoring expenses and reporting to finance department

Requirements:
• Master’s Degree in related subject area or equivalent professional experience with BA required.
• At least 2 years of related international experience, incl. event management.
• Reliable, very well organized;
• Proficiency in English and working knowledge of Arabic both spoken and written (a further language such as Persian, French or German is desirable);
• Very good team player; Positive, active, open-minded;
• International focus and thrives in diverse environment.
• Computer skills: Word, Excel, Internet research, Outlook and Power Point are a must
• Very strong writing skills.
• Working or living experience in a country of the MENA-region highly desirable
