Job Purpose:
To manage the strategic and tactical application for the physical security of all personnel and the infrastructure of the Microsoft Corporation, thereby ensuring a safe working environment that supports the organization and the aims and objectives of its core business within the Brazil Subsidiary. This does not include factory security which will require close alignment and integration with the factory security team.

Dimensions: To manage Microsoft Regional Security in Brazil in accordance with the policy and strategy of Microsoft Global Security and within allocated budgetary constraints.

Accountabilities Principle responsibilities, activities and required results specific to the job holder. These accountabilities will reflect the overarching level of performance for the post holder and may vary subject to assignment, changes in organizational priorities and risk/threat assessments.

Business: Scope   Evaluate, develop and execute issues of regional site security strategies and demonstrate leadership and direction to all agents/vendors ensuring they consistently meet, or exceed, project contracts and deadlines. This should include regular visits to quality assure:   1. Site security survey plans 2. Security assessments 3. Site specific risk/threat analysis 4. Training awareness programs   5. Emergency Planning and Preparedness 6. Support to Leadership Team in Managing natural and man-made emergencies All of which need to be managed in cooperation with local, regional and national law enforcement agencies.   Liaison with the highest levels of Governmental, diplomatic (US) and private sector agencies within your region, to protect and enhance the Microsoft security program and business accountabilities.   Control the quality of productivity by security operators, through leadership and direction, to ensure the standards of service delivery, reporting and budgetary objectives meet or exceed expectations.   Make considered decisions, and contingency plans, for the immediate resolution of strategic and tactical applications for regional security standards, policy and procedures, through leadership and direction and embrace change to take advantage of business opportunity, for the short, medium and long term.   Take a leading role, on the response to intelligence for the protection of the highest security threat, emergency and contingency planning with regard to executive stakeholders, executives and employees of the Microsoft Corporation.   Coordinate with Risk Mitigation the level of security vetting for individuals, teams and vendors to ensure compliance with Microsoft policy.   Actively develop cross – business group processes, programs and projects.   Maintain an effective network across the business group, both internal and external, to ensure your expertise is recognized and valued to assist others in achieving maximum efficiency.   Through intelligence led risk/threat assessments, demonstrate a problem solving approach to preserving the business infrastructure at local and regional levels and making recommendations to support the strategic aims at a global level.   Business: Plan   Engage Brazil leadership to ensure security service are delivered and executed appropriately, professionally and legally.   Ensure that any agent/vendor has clearly defined commitments and that any development need is addressed through training, development or coaching, and encourage a collaborative approach in order to meet organizational expectations.   Maintain levels of performance for your security operatives and ensure any vacancy is filled promptly with consideration to the organizations commitment to diversity and equal opportunity.   Foster a team working environment that will foster innovation, mutual respect and a determination to succeed in achieving or improving efficiency and cost effectiveness.   Develop a team that demonstrate and encourage a positive ‘can do’ attitude with all employees, vendors and other outside agencies to enable the Microsoft Corporation achieve its business objectives.   Hold regular risk/threat assessment reviews, at all levels, to ensure resource management, project management and problem solving issues are addressed both internally and externally.   Lead by example and embrace business opportunity with effective change management and clear knowledge of developing technology to improve business delivery.   Business: Implement/Sustain   Encourage development for external service optimization, to meet the Microsoft Corporation business aims, and ensure the process is fair and transparent.   Foster and demonstrate, by example, a working environment of openness, where people can communicate at all levels for the good of the organization and team, over and above individual ambition.   Undertake an assessment of responsibilities, their personal commitments and liabilities, along with their activities of preparation, to ensure a safe working environment, for the employees of Microsoft Corporation and its infrastructure.   Ensure that a network of communication is maintained to support operational effectiveness and demonstrate the level of expertise within Microsoft Global Security which is acknowledged by law enforcement agencies and that they actively seek and respond to requests of assistance.   As practical, formulate in advance memoranda of understanding between Microsoft and local agencies, to ensure that there are clear lines of authority and that the business priorities of Microsoft are fully considered. Customer / Partner   Participate in planning and preparation for any travel and events for Microsoft personnel and their customers, ensuring that security risks are mitigated to the extent possible and that leadership is aware of the potential risks associated with such activity.   Develop an exercise program to enhance the knowledge and practical abilities of all agencies with local legislation and procedures to ensure compliance and enhance customer confidence.   Determine a program of training, development and coaching to ensure both internal and external customers are aware of the commitment by Microsoft Global/Regional Security toward customer satisfaction.   Liaise with stakeholders to ensure that you, and all business groups, understand the importance of collaboration and working relationships to support and enhance business objectives with regard to security initiatives, policy and strategy.   Ensure that all agencies address any conflict in a timely manner, with consideration for other group commitments and accountabilities.   Partner with Investigations to determine requirements for overt/covert surveillance and ensure it is commensurate with customer requirements, both internal and external.     Partner with Global Security Executive Protection Unit to assess the need for close protection activity and identify appropriate resources.   Partner with Global Security Communications to develop a proactive employee security awareness programs.   Partner with Global Security Factory Security to align priorities and address physical security needs and issues.   Partner with other security groups, both internal and external, to maximize the safety of Microsoft employees and staff. Integration   Understand and support the objectives and agendas of other groups within Microsoft.   Determine commitments in order to act upon interdependencies with other groups and ensure added value to organizational priorities.   Through consultation with other managers, ensure there is no duplication of work, be it internal/external training, project management or strategic and tactical policies.   Negotiate a working strategy for other group managers to support your aims and objectives and a process for accountability and conflict resolution.   Manage a crisis incident network that will offer support to all managers across the Microsoft organization to ensure business sustainability.     Ensure active support to the International Security Program charter.   Establish and manage local communications networks to include private and public sector agencies with crisis management responsibilities, risk assessment capabilities for crime and terrorist threats, as well as internal and external resources with protection and business continuity management expertise to enable the Microsoft Corporation to protect its employees, customers and infrastructure ensuring continuity its core business and services.


ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS  
Educated to degree level or an international equivalent   Comprehensive knowledge of physical security techniques   KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS   Security industry recognized qualification(s)   Experience as a manager of corporate, public or private organizations security.
