K-9 Explosive Detection Dog Handler

Required qualifications:
· U.S. Citizen at least 21 years of age
· Current valid U.S. issued passport and driver’s license
· Minimum 3 years military, law enforcement or protective security in the private sector providing high threat
protective services (Honorable discharge if prior military)

· Minimum of three (3) years of service as a dog handler
· Certified in accordance with North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA),
national/State/provincial military or law enforcement agency standards as a working K9 Handler
· Recognition of IED’s and explosives materials testing procedures as required
· Training in procedures to prevent cross contamination of explosive odors used in training and testing
· Know/understand the physical condition of the dogs, be familiar with canine hygiene requirements, and
be able to recognize K-9 diseases
· No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving moral circumstances during previous 6 months
· Physically able to perform all duties, functions and activities related to working at the ECP (stand/walk for
extended periods of time and able to lift minimum of 50 pounds).


Duties and responsibilities:
Prevent unauthorized explosive devices or material from entering site
Maintain the EDD K-9’s proficiency in explosive detection through routine training.
Maintain the health and hygiene of the EDD K-9
Protect life and property on site through utilization of the EDD K-9
Summon professional assistance when responding to injured personnel
Provide emergency response in situations such as security alerts, civil disturbances, suspected/ actual criminal violations and/or other life threatening situations
Perform cursory personnel checks and badging to allow access into the site
Ensure compliance with applicable security regulations and force protection requirements
Maintain a professional appearance and be prepared to perform duties as required
Maintain proficiency in tactical skills, communications, and physical security
Perform other functions as directed by Country Manager
Other duties as assigned.
