Principal Security Officer

Overview:
Ensures that all passive and active security measures are functioning properly and are providing the appropriate level of protection to the Camp Vinnell Compound. Ensures that all personnel security assets are performing up to standard and that their efforts are completely integrated. Maintains continuous communication with the CAmp Vinnell Security Operations Center and all operational security elements at the Camp Vinnell Compound. Provides and receives security reports. Ensures vendors, vehicles and visitors are screened properly to allow access to the compound if authorized. Performs armed and unarmed compound security services. Conducts security checks, security surveillance, and the controlled entry in to the compound. Supervises subordinate personnel in the
execution of compound security operations. Conducts post checks and provides support for shift personnel. Maintains Situational Awareness in the Security Operation Center (SOC) through radio and cell phone communications. Records daily journal of all security operations.


A. Duties/responsibilities:

Performs compound/installation security operations.
Performs security surveillance of assigned areas as required,
Operates security systems and specialized equipment such as Mechanical Barriers, Itemizer Detection Equipment, and Under Vehicle Surveillance Systems.
Supervises subordinate personnel in conduct of compound security operations.
Coordinates the acquisition of training and operational resources for mission execution.
Provides training and assistance to designated security personnel in security guard and force protection operations.
Trains personnel on weapon systems used in security, anti-terrorism and counter-terrorism operations.
Responsible for monitoring physical control measures.
Follows the force protection security program of the branch.
Provides static post security at fixed sites.
Trains for MOUT, civil disturbance and riot control operations.
Supervises the performance all security personnel allowing entry into the compound assigned to his shift.
Operates security systems and specialized equipment such as Mechanical Barriers, Itemiser Detection Equipment, and Under Vehicle Surveillance Systems.
Continuously monitors the performance of all security elements operating outside and leading into the compound facility and applies immediate corrective action as required.
Trains personnel assigned to security duty in proper searches, surveillance, reporting, and other security duties.
Maintains continuous communication with all security elements, the SecurityOperationsCenter, and other agencies as necessary to insure the security of the camp.
Maintains a log of all activities during his tour of duty.
Responds to all emergencies or security concerns during his tour of duty.
Ensures that all security devices are in proper working order and takes repair action as appropriate or contacts supporting maintenance agencies.
Train designated security personnel in the operation of security systems, specialized equipment, proper searches, surveillance, reporting, and other security duties.
Continuously monitor the performance of all security elements and apply immediate corrective action as required. Maintain communications with all security personnel.
Ensure all paperwork used to document person(s) and vehicles entering are complete, correct, and legible. All paperwork and Visitor Badges/Vehicle Passes are issued, maintained and secured.
Supervise and Brief Personnel during shift change. Checks all personnel for proper uniform/equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned pertaining to mission accomplishment.
Inspect all equipment for accountability and that it is in operating condition, i.e., radios, telephone, flashlight, binoculars, drop arm and vehicle mirrors. Ensures all necessary equipment is present and operational at each security post. Report shortfalls immediately and


TAKE CORRECTIVE ACTION.
Reports all Security matters to Security Operations.
Inspect and conduct barrier checks on all Pop Up Barriers
Check all checkpoints for cleanliness
Conduct night light checks on all security lights. Report to operations on results.
Prepare all security logs.
Check all towers and personnel at least two times while on duty, for proper equipment and paper work, and procedures are followed.
Ensures checkpoints have proper paper work to receive unscheduled vendors or unscheduled visitors.
Submit verbal reports of significant activities during duty by radio or telephone to Security Operations Center, submit written reports as needed.
Follow any instructions from the Security Operations Center.
Ensures that ALL persons and vehicles entering facility are authorized.
Call Supervisor to report vehicles and persons without proper identification, authorization or appointments.
Coordinate at all times with the SANG Duty Officer. Perform Liaison duties during heightened alert status with the SANG Duty Officer and Commander.
Alert SANG for assistance with any attempted unauthorized entry.
Provides additional assistance in emergencies such as medical, fires, accidents and other life threatening events.
Performs other duties as assigned pertaining to mission accomplishment.
 
B. Independence: Acts under the supervision of the Manager, Chief Trainer, or designated Security Officer.


C. Supervisory Responsibilities: As required, supervises multiple senior trainers in the execution of designated compound security operations and other security personnel.
 
Qualifications:
A. Education Level: High School diploma required. Warrant Officer Advanced Course, Advance NCO Course, Police Academy or Force Protection Training required. At least two years college preferred.

B. Experience: Former experience in Installation/Physical Security, Force Protection or Marine Security Guard positions as a Commissioned Officer, Warrant Officer, Senior Noncommissioned Officer, or Military/Civilian Police at the Sergeant level required.

C. Specific knowledge, skills, ability: U.S. Citizenship. Excellent physical condition. Capable of passing a PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST. Possess uncorrected visual acuity of 20/100 or better in each eye with both eyes correctable, with eye-glasses, to at least 20/20 binocular vision, or 20/200 or better vision correctable to at least 20/20 binocular vision with contact lenses; and the ability to distinguish between the basic color groups. Hearing loss not greater than: 20 DB at 500cps; 30 DB at 1000cps; 50 DB at 2000cps. Possess a valid driver’s license not in jeopardy of suspension. Proficient in computer skills. State weapons license holder preferred. Be of good moral character as confirmed by a thorough, comprehensive background investigation. Must submit to and pass psychological screening, police background check and drug screen. Not have been convicted of a “Class A” misdemeanor or Any felony; Not have been convicted of a “Class B” misdemeanor or its equivalent within the last one hundred twenty (120) months; Not be on probation for a criminal offense above the grade of “Class C” misdemeanor. Eligible under the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. 922 with amendments). Previously possessed a DOD security clearance or capable of being cleared for one. Possess computer skills and obtain a Saudi Arabia driver’s license. Must be extremely knowledgeable of Military Supply Accountability regulations dealing with Control of Sensitive Items.
