Position Summary :
The Executive Protection Officer (EPO) is the GPS representative on the Executive Floors of Scotia Plaza, conducting and enforcing established executive protection procedures, and responding immediately in case of an incident. The EPO, when not engaged directly on the Executive Floor, will use their broader expertise in physical security matters to support the remainder of the GPS team.



Key Accountabilities:

1. Executive Protection. Conduct and enforce established executive protection procedures, and initiate the response of other staff as required. Support business continuity planning measures in the event of an incident that requires the evacuation of the executive floors or the extraction of specific executives. Support the conduct of threat and risk assessments of executive residences, travel plans, or other activities. Support the implementation of a regular counter-surveillance program for sensitive executive areas.

2. Access Control. Ensure that access control standards and policies are followed through the programming, monitoring and control of physical access control systems on executive floors, in order to ensure a safe and secure environment while safeguarding the senior executives. Independently troubleshoot potentially complex system faults and report irresolvable issues to the appropriate stakeholders.

3. Global Physical Risk Assessment. Support the conduct of physical security risk assessments of branch facilities, non-branch facilities, executive residences and expatriate residences worldwide, and assist in the provision of recommendations to the approving authority for such assessments. Assist GPS staff providing support to other business line initiatives through the provision of physical security subject matter expertise and risk assessment.

4. Global Incident Management and Response. Support the GPS response to security incidents worldwide, including incidents of terrorism, civil unrest, natural disaster or criminal attack against the bank which affect staff, customers, assets or facilities, in order to limit loss and mitigate risk. Support the Global Security Operations Centre (GSOC) in the execution of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) by assuming the role of monitoring High Value High Risk (HV/HR) facilities during the initial transition period. Participate in appropriate after-action reviews post-incident, providing meaningful inputs into the process.

5. Training and Awareness/Crime Prevention Programs. Participate in the conduct of on-going training for Executive Protection Officers and others involved with incident management/response on the Executive Floors. Support the delivery of physical security training and awareness programs under the direction of the Manager, Physical and Personnel Security.

6. Reporting. With minimal support, write concise, timely escalation reports regarding incidents to inform key stakeholders. Generate both verbal and written critical incident and summary reports for the dissemination of information. The accuracy and thoroughness of this reporting will be relied upon by GPS to make critical decisions, and by other bank departments to initiate and support their response to emergencies.

7. Support to other GPS Functions. Support other GPS functions and projects on an as-needed basis by supporting GPS Operational Support team.

Qualifications:
• Knowledge of physical security practices – Working
• Incident report writing skills – Working
• Knowledge of use of force law and practical application - Thorough

Education & Accreditation:
Licensing: Possession of Ontario Security Guard License or ability/willingness to obtain a license is mandatory.

Education:

University or college degree in a related field. First Aid training, Use of Force training, and other security and incident response related qualifications are desirable.


Work Experience:
Minimum 3 years of physical security or related experience.
High degree of fluency in English required; French/Spanish desirable.

Other:
• Position will work alternating shifts, either from 7AM to 3PM or 11AM to 7PM, Mon to Fri.
• Current Standard Level First Aid + CPR preferred.
• Prior experience as an Executive Protection Officer preferred.
• Executive Protection Officers will be required to respond to high stress emergency situations.
