Crisis And Security Consultant

Job Purpose
This is a key role within the regional crisis and security consulting
practice. The incumbent will be required to deliver and manage
security risk consulting and crisis management engagements independently
or in support of larger, multi-disciplined security projects, principally across
Southern Africa
. The consultant may also be required to deliver or
support projects across the wider Europe/Africa region.
The incumbent will also undertake business development activity with
potential and existing clients to help develop and grow the regional CSC
practice in-line with budget expectations.
 
Tasks and Responsibilities
Consulting
Security risk consulting
The consultant will be expected to undertake security reviews
and audits, security risk assessments, security planning, risk
management and other similar tasks, with particular emphasis on
application of security management techniques in an African
context.
 
Crisis management consulting
The consultant will be expected to undertake crisis management
related activities including but not limited to:-
Crisis management and business continuity planning
workshops and exercises-
Emergency deployment to provide crisis management
support to clients-
Consulting and emergency support in relation to evacuation
pandemic issues (in co-operation with ISOS)
Task Management
Service consultancy assignments consisting of complex tasks
Act as lead on assignments when a more junior team member is engaged
Lead and participate in client meetings
Ensure that practices, policies, strategy and services are fully
aligned with client need
Maintain and develop long-term client relationships; act in
conjunction with key account managers
Maintain time and expense records to ensure accurate invoicing
in accordance with company procedure
Task Delivery
Delivery of tasks for clients on time, on budget, to the highest
standards
The role will involve significant travel to client sites and Control
Risks offices (particularly in Africa)
From time-to-time the role may require consultants to support in
crisis or emergency evacuation situations, sometimes requiring
short-notice and/or extended deployment to the field.
Business development
Pro-actively seek opportunities to develop projects and business

Contribute to marketing activities
Participate in client meetings and
develop long-term client relationships
Team/Practice Development
Develop and mentor junior staff, maximising utilisation of resources
Be the regional SME for CSC

Knowledge and Experience Essential
Proven ability to manage and deliver consulting engagements
Client and commercial management
Relevant international/ security risk standards
Consulting skill and expertise, including security risk qualification
Understanding of Africa and emerging markets
Commitment to continuous professional development
Practical crisis management experience with commercial
organisation at corporate and regional levels.
Excellent presentational and training skills
Preferred
Regional experience in Africa or extensive experience on
-the-ground in developing countries and emerging markets
Management consultancy
Project management methodologies (e.g.PRINCE2)
and expertise in their application
Current standards and practices used security risk management
Understanding of security and risk management challenges in
emerging markets (particularly in Africa)
Languages (French, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese)
