The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) – South Sudan Operations Centre (SSOC) is based in Juba, Republic of South Sudan. Current SSOC operations are largely focused on assisting partners with the implementation of physical infrastructure projects including designing, constructing and rehabilitating roads and bridges, schools, clinics and Government and Ministry offices. SSOC also procures goods and services for a number of partners and provides logistics and operational support to institutions in South Sudan with the overall objective to support partners in achieving their programme goals.

Under the direct supervision of Security Associate, the incumbent of the post is required to perform the following specific duties and responsibilities
Security duties at UNOPS Juba Compound's entry and exit points include the following
- Controls entry and ensures security of the organizational premises and staff by conducting an ID card check;
- When directed, searches all vehicles entering UNOPS' compounds;
- When directed, searches visitors and packages entering UNOPS' compounds;
- Checks removal/outgoing items and ensures that a paper release and documentation is completed;
- Maintains a log/occurrence book and ensure that paper entries are made;
- Conducts traffic control at the gates and exit points when necessary;
- In case of incidents or emergencies on the organization's premises, instructs staff and visitors of security procedures including fire control procedures, including evacuation where necessary and ensures the physical security of premises and staff;
- Reports any security-related information, incident and irregularities to the Security/Logistics Officer through the shift leader;
- Responds to enquiries and provides appropriate information or suggests alternative sources of information;
- Investigates and reports on all incidents on the organization premises that involve a breach of security procedures, injuries or theft and reports back to supervisor;
- Any other task that is assigned by the supervisor.
- Conducts compound and perimeter patrols on a regular basis;
- Checks and ensures that the perimeter fence/walls are intact;
- Reports any suspicious persons, vehicles or objects to the supervisor;
- Checks all UNOPS vehicles parked inside the compound at car parking. Alternate parking should be arranged for other agencies and VIP vehicles without jeopardizing the free movement of UNOPS vehicles.
Education
- Secondary education is a requirement;
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of one or more local languages is highly desirable.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of security rules, regulations, and procedures of UN including fire safety and first aid procedures is an added advantage;
- Physical fitness.
