The Government of Australia is providing support to the Papua New Guinea Law and
Justice Sector through a cohesive whole-of-Government approach including; a Law and Justice Transition Program, the Strongim Gavman Program and the PNG-Australia Policing Partnership. This assistance is an important element of the shared goals of Australia and theGovernment of Papua New Guinea. This program of work provides complementary, flexible and responsive support that promotes measurable progress against policies for law and justice reform, better access to justice and improved service delivery to the people of Papua New Guinea. It is focused upon enabling better economic development through enhanced service delivery in the areas of community safety, stability and crime prevention.
Key Responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly qualified and motivated person who will be based in Hela Province (Tari). This support will be specifically directed to assisting the Provincial Administration with its strategic approach to law and justice planning and service delivery, the role of the village courts, land mediation and promoting local initiatives design to promote community safety. The successful applicant will have further responsibility to identify opportunities more broadly for public and private partnerships
