Job Description:
Conduct research on culture, economics, and politics of Afghanistan. Create reports based on open source media regarding cultural, social, religious, and economical norms of Afghan society. Review TV and Radio products produced for Afghan audience – making sure that the product is culturally, socially, and religiously acceptable. Provide written and verbal translation of Pashto material to English and Dari material to English and vice versa for further exploitation. Provide analytical reports based on Afghan open media sources. Conduct surveys of local nationals on specific subjects. Provide cultural advice to US Army personnel in support of any Mission sets in Afghanistan.
Requirements:
· 1+ years professional level work experience preferred, must be able to provide proof and level of experience as well as time in country
· Fluent in Pashto and/or Dari, 3/3 or better in language proficiency in written translation in both target and English language
· Must also be capable of using an English, Pashto, and Dari keyboard in conjunction with their duties
· Possess excellent writing skill sets, in English, Pashto and/or Dari, and other applicable Afghan languages or dialects spoken where assigned
· Willing and able to conduct real-time, accurate and concise oral interpretations of conversations
· Be able and willing to translate documents as necessary
· Strategic Communications/Media experience is a plus
· BS/BA (or international equivalent) degree preferred
