Job Description Under direct supervision of the Security Manager, the Security Specialist carries out daily operations of assigned area(s) of responsibility, typically pertaining to oversight of assigned or attached project personnel, facilities, areas and US Government managed property and assets on a
single site or across multiple sites in Afghanistan. Security Specialists assigned will oversee, provide support and liaison with United States Department of State (DoS) Regional Support Office (RSO) augmentation support personnel performing specialized tasks in fields: Communications, Operations and Logistics.
The Security Specialist represents the Company, Corporate Security, Government Group and the Project. As such, is responsible for both excellent written and oral presentation abilities. The individual must demonstrate professional, clear, concise, knowledgeable communications skills and is expected to appropriately adapt and integrate into applicable security, force protection and enforcement organizational structures, participate in assigned working groups, attend meetings, give briefings, etc.
The Security Specialist conducts assessments, patrols and protects residential areas, offices, construction areas, materials yards, etc.; and may conduct both electronic and ground Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) of Project areas, airport security, vehicular movement and route selections and counter surveillance. Interacts with and directs use of proprietary and/or contact guard forces, as required. Provides guidance congruent with corporate and client mission objectives in the execution of operations to achieve positive measurable outcomes. Facilitates Access Control of Locally Employed Persons (LEP), screening and requisite identification.
Maintains situational awareness of local and regional operational areas, geopolitical conditions, threat groups and organizations and hazard environments; conducts continual risk mitigation practices and procedures. Conducts and reports assessments including: Threat, Physical and Operational of assigned or occupied sites, and critical life-support assets (Security, Communications, Medical, Subsistence Storage, Transportation, etc.). Actively patrols and reports changes impacting security strategies incorporating facilities, work sites and areas, access control points and operations, equipment, personnel and procedures designed to afford maximum safety, physical and operational security to assigned personnel and assets; Implements Security measures.
Ensures application and enforcement of governing corporate, project, and client policy, rules and regulations. Delivers security-related training and briefs including: NISPOM, OPSEC, Ground/Air Movements, External Missions, Perimeter Work etc.; Documents subcontractor training. Carries out Loss Prevention Program ensuring implementation of appropriate physical security measures to assigned managed facilities and areas. Conducts mitigation measures including Key Control Program, Patrolling and physical security checks of facilities, vehicles, gates, doors, etc.
Protects and responds to violations of company ethics policy, both inside and outside the enterprise, to include dishonesty, fraud and conflict of interest, and other issues related to workplace violence, antisocial behavior (making threats, engaging in sexual harassment, etc.), gambling and sabotage.
Engages as directed to emergent hostile or natural events applying security practices and procedures. Carries out assigned tasks as member of Project Crisis Management Team. Conducts investigations and reports violations of client, corporate or project policies.
Build, improve and maintain effective relationships with client, customer, management and employees. Overall responsibility for the timely and accurate submission of all corporate, project, department and client directed security related reports.
Will perform other duties in support of the project as assigned.
Basic Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent and 5 years directly related experience is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Elevated criminal background screening applies. Must have or be able to obtain Secret Clearance
Other Job Requirements Demonstrated knowledge of anti-terrorism force protection (ATFP) procedures and practices. Ability to develop and implement security recommendations into practice. Experience conducting formal inquiries regarding fraud & loss or any criminal act or violations. Must have knowledge of basic interview and investigative techniques and written reports as related to security incidents. Formal reporting and oral presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
