INTERPOL is now looking for several qualified candidates to serve as Operations Assistants within its Command and Co-ordination Centre (CCC) in Singapore.The Command & Co-ordination Centre is the first response unit to messages received and the first point of contact for INTERPOL's 190 National Central Bureaus.

After this recruitment process is finished, all candidates considered as recommended for the post will be part of a pool of candidates and may be considered for eventual vacant positions at the same level that may arise in the near future. These candidates may not need to apply again or go through a testing/interviewing process for the new positions.
Job Title: Operations Assistant

Under the guidance of his/her direct supervisor, and operating at all times with minimal supervision, the Operations Assistant assists transnational police, anti-crime and disaster response co-operation. The Command and Co-ordination Centre operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year, in English, French, Spanish and Arabic operating as a First Response Unit.

1. PRIMARY DUTIES
Under the guidance of the hierarchy, the Operational Assistant will carry out the following tasks:
Reception and assessment of all incoming information to IPSG (which may be received in all four official languages);
Assist in the assessment of the level of urgency and implementation of subsequent action upon urgent operational, tactical and strategic matters;
Assist in providing logistical and support services to member countries and support teams in-house and in the field;
Provision of services to support specialized field teams in response to the needs of the requesting administration;
Facilitation of communication between NCBs and INTERPOL staff on day-to-day and specific issues as instructed;
In accordance with standard operating procedures, provide assistance in the location, identification and detention of persons and substances moving illegally around the world and continued monitoring of subsequent movements as required;
Assist in the provision of a real time service to locate and identify persons travelling that are wanted or using fraudulent documents;
Gathering, reporting and processing of information and data, in accordance with the rules on the processing of data (RPD), relevant to transnational crimes and criminals, wanted persons, individuals subject to criminal investigation, crisis and major events to ensure the relevance and accuracy of information in the Organization’s databases and alert member countries to potential dangers/threats;
Assist in the preparation of clear, impartial, concise, objective reports on all activities, including movements of INTERPOL and related personnel;

2. REQUIREMENTS
All candidates will be assessed on the under mentioned requirements.

2.1 Training/Education required
At least two years’ University education (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent)

2.2 Languages
Professional fluency (written and spoken) in at least two Organization’s official languages (English, Spanish, Arabic or French);
One position is available for a candidate who is fluent in Arabic (spoken and written), with some knowledge of another official language of the Organization (English, French or Spanish).

2.3 Professional experience required
At least two years' professional experience in any relevant field.

2.4 Specific skills required
Experience working with computers including MS Office, Internet and database experience;
Strong communication skills, both in written and oral form;
Networking capability;
Ability to prepare and present reports in a comprehensive, user-friendly format.

2.5 Specific aptitudes required

In addition to the requirements, the following Assets and Special Aptitudes would be beneficial

Knowledge of criminal procedures and law enforcement actions and practices
Experience working in law enforcement agencies or other international organizations.


3. WORKING CONDITIONS
The starting salary for a grade 7 is 2510 € per month for a step 1.

This post requires occasional travel on missions, sometimes of a long duration and at short notice.

The incumbent will also be required to work occasional overtime based upon workload.

This post is subject to shift work, and currently falls under Staff Instruction No. 2011.08.
