EUPOL AFGHANISTAN was launched on 17 June 2007 and it will consist of some 316 international and 197 National mission members deployed at central (KABUL), regional and provincial levels.

Job Summary 
The National Security Assistant will work with EUPOL AFG Security Department and is expected to
have a good network of contacts to governmental, security, other institutions and individuals. He directly reports to the Senior National Security Officer (SNSO) or the appointed Mission Security Officer (MSO). The National Security Assistant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following tasks:
 
Duties and Responsibilities
• Advise and recommend EUPOL Security Department on general and specific local national security related requirements and issues.
• Gather, analyse and report on security related information as guided by the SNSO or MSO
• Develop and advise on security policies in particular to security related information.
• Liaise with other relevant third parties.
• Draft security reports.
• Translate written reports from Dari and Pashto into English and vice versa.
• Support the Mission Security Officer in report writing and filing of information.
• Establish, update and implement security measures in the area in liaison with other Security personnel in the area under supervision of the SNSO & MSO.
• Conduct and coordinate security assessments of locations and individuals as assigned by MSO & SNSO.
• Monitoring, filing and reporting on the security situation and security files
• All other related duty assigned by the SNSO or MSO

Qualification 
• High school certificate is required.
• University Degree desirable
• 2 years’ experience in a police (i.e. Detective/Investigator) or military organization, working in or with police intelligence – CID or NDS after graduation.
• Familiar with, and experience of, emerging Afghan governmental (MOI, MOD, NDS) media and civil society institutions.
• Good, certifiable linguistic skills in written and spoken English, Dari and Pashto languages.eg :IELTS
• Good computer skills.(Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel etc)
• Proven ability to successfully negotiate and liaise at all levels with National military, police or civilian authorities responsible for security
• Proven aptitude to compile and analyze information with specific regard to security related aspects
• Knowledge of health and safety in similar environment. Good knowledge of the methods involved in the development of security procedures
• Experience and knowledge of firearms and associated issues

• Ability to work effectively under pressure, in difficult circumstances, as well as ability to communicate with personnel at all operational and strategic levels, and act in the interest of the mission.
• Ability and willingness to work additional hours if required.
• Additional language skills are desirable.
• Must exercise and maintain the highest standards of personal integrity, operational and personal security, confidentiality, impartiality and self-discipline, including non-disclosure of documentation or information of a classified and/or sensitive nature related to the mission or the mission personnel.
• Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
• Mandatory requirement to be able to obtain security clearance for EUPOL, ISAF, Counter Terrorism, Intelligence and other Law enforcement agencies and pass all medical checks
