Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Pakistan is looking for a new International Programme Director.
NRC has been present in Pakistan since 2001. NRC has operational presence in three provinces in Pakistan, namely Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), and Balochistan. NRC is assisting flood and conflict affected people in Pakistan, and responding to Refugees coming from Afghanistan.
Five competency areas such as Shelter, Education, Food Security, NFI & Wash and ICLA are at the core of activities for NRC Pakistan. NRC is one of the leading agencies and employing over 400 staff members.
The Protection and Advocacy Adviser reports to the Country Director.
Job description
Advise the Country Director on all safety and security issues
Be responsible for strengthening of, compliance, and the implementation of NRC Security framework
and security plan
Provide updated strategic analysis of political and/or military context
Identify risk mitigating safety and security measures, suggest and advise on implementation
Management, training and development of security staff at country office
Train and develop NRC country programme staff in safety and security
Communicate and cooperate with relevant external security actors
The candidate has to have solid networks in Pakistan to all the key stakeholders to gather information, ensure better security for staff and negotiate
Qualifications
Relevant educational background for the position
Minimum 3 years of experience from working as a senior Security Manager in a humanitarian/recovery context
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Valid driver’s license
Knowledge of the context in Pakistan and Afghanistan is desirable
Experience with protracted crisis and emergency response
