Job Introduction:
G4S is responsible for the physical security of Iraq International Airport and its environs. The environment varies from high intensity population areas such as the main checkpoint and the Airport Terminal to more open environments such as perimeter and airside patrolling.
The physical threat is manifested through random mortar, rocket and small arms fire to the implicit threat of VBIED, suicide attack or the smuggling of explosives and sabotage.
The operational tasking required meeting the needs of the environment and the security threat results in a flexible, multi-talented Category 1 work force. This work force forms the nucleus of past performance and experience together with the backbone of the project.
The role of the project is to provide an example to the client of how a disciplined, well trained security force can continue to provide security to Iraq International Airport whilst increasing the capacity for self-sufficiency within the Local National work force.
To provide a safe environment inside the Iraq International Airport for all passengers and staff so as to carry out their daily tasks safely.
Role Responsibility:
Including but not limited to the following key tasks, as directed by and/or in consultation with the Iraq International Airport Ground Security Manager
To provide the command and control of the Ground Security Guard Force
Ensure that the QRF vehicles are in a state of readiness
Oversee the mounting/dismounting of each guard shift changeover
Carry out a weapon, ammunition and equipment check at each shift change and sign the register
Report incidents to the Iraq International Airport Operations Centre
Report any security occurrences/breaches to the Iraq International Airport Operations Centre and Line Manager
Ensure that the guard force and the QRF maintain their standards through on-going training and supervision
Carry out Patrols within the Ground Security TAOR
Command the QRF whilst providing security for VIPs arriving and departing from the Iraq International Airport
Ensure shift system and recording of the shift system is as per manning levels
Monitor performance of guards whilst carrying out their duties
Promote the supervisory tasks of level 2/3 LN’s
Ensure that all staff is aware and understand G4S SOPs and reaction procedures in different situations
The Ideal Candidate:
Essential:
Must be able to effectively communicate in English
Must have a working knowledge of weapons and weapon safety procedures
Must be a qualified in some area of Military/Police/Security background
Must have extensive practical skills and theoretical knowledge and have applied these in a practical setting for an extended period of time
Should have had experience in the field of tutoring or mentoring of other Military/Police/Security professionals
Must be enthusiastic with regard to on-going training for staff
Should have an extensive knowledge of Military/Police/Security procedures and tactics
Must understand the need for clear lines of communication with respect to client management and staff reporting
Must be proactive in their approach to procedures with regard to SOP’s in relation to the Iraq International Airport
Be proactive in planning for the event of a major incident either at camp Smith, checkpoint, terminal or cargo areas
Must have the ability to analytically asses needs, and have the ability to implement the required changes
They must be able to advise and impart their previous Military/Police/Security skills to the benefit of the Airfield and QRF staff
Should display an ability to determine policy and implement same
Should be able to display an understanding and capability of man management skills in regards to TCNs/LNs
Must hold a valid driving licence
Desirable:
Up to five years experience in working in hostile environments is advantageous
First Aid trained
Computer Skills
Weapons Range qualification
Certificate in Adult Teaching
Skills and Ability:
Be polite and courteous
Be able to follow and issue instructions
Good communication skills both written and verbal
Good client liaison skills
Proven supervision skills and the ability to work unsupervised and under pressure in a fast paced, high risk environment
Proven IT skills in all Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Access, Word & Power Point)
Proven safe weapon handling skills
Competent skills in radio communication procedures
Ability to administer First Aid and CPR .
