Job SummaryBackground:  The AECOM International Development Director of Security is an executive management position based in the AECOM International Development Home Office in Arlington, Virginia, discharging mission-critical responsibilities over AECOM assets and personnel within the security context of the company’s worldwide operations in the development sector.  To that end, the Director of Security must demonstrate a measured, deliberate, and business enabling approach to security risk management in line with AECOM’s corporate security policies and bring substantial, relevant experience to the position.  With clear responsibility for the safety and effective implementation of security policies across the spectrum of AECOM International Development interests worldwide, the Director of Security must exercise a high and constant degree of personal initiative.  The individual must be able to make and implement decisions that balance the objectives of staff safety, asset protection and reputation integrity against the demands of business development within a number of complex and dynamic security environments in developing and post-conflict countries. 
•    Lead the development of policies and standards needed to support good safety and security practices within AECOM International Development’s projects worldwide, including a risk management framework, which would apply to all projects and country offices.
•    Develop and implement Country Security Plans Crisis Management Plans, Emergency Evacuation Plans and Business Continuity Plans in line with AECOM’s corporate security standards in coordination with AID’s country level security managers where applicable.
•    Maintain an overview of current events and developments in AECOM International Development’s operating environments, and in particular those situations in which safety and security issues are acute or escalating (projects/country offices at risk).
•    Develop and keep up to date a consolidated safety and security risks matrix, conduct necessary analysis and present to AID COO and AECOM CSO as needed.
Minimum Requirements•    Degree in Security Management, Police Science, Risk Management, or other related security degree required
•    10+ years prior experience working in the government sector in law enforcement or intelligence services, corporate security, or private sector security
•    Experience managing large multi-national teams of 20+ staff
•    Experience overseeing and administering security budgets of $8+ million
•    3+ years on the ground security experience in Afghanistan
•    Prior experience working in post-conflict zones, transitional and developing countries
•    Prior experience managing subcontractors and vendors
•    Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
•    Microsoft suite required, knowledge of GPS based software tracking systems strongly preferred
•    Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time on short notice to multiple geographies.
Preferred Qualifications•    Knowledge of IT security issues a plus
