The Senior Trade Manager will be responsible for supporting UK companies in the Defence and Security sectors to win opportunities and develop their business in Malaysia. The jobholder will be establishing and maintaining networks with key players and stakeholders including Government and Industry officials with an interest in the equipment and logistics side of the Military, Royal Malaysian Police, Coast Guard (MMEA), Fire control (Bomba), Aviation Security and Border Control. The jobholder will build a strong knowledge of sector trends, regulatory barriers and other issues, and will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities for UK firms, and carrying out tailored research projects and relevant promotional events.
Requirements:
Excellent communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English, including the ability to write concise correspondence and reports;
Previous direct experience of international business, and a healthy interest in key political, economic and commercial issues regionally and globally;
A good understanding of the Defence & Security sectors in Malaysia, is an advantage but not essential;
Ability to build good working relations and influence relevant stakeholders and senior decision-makers;
A driven and organised self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
