Basic Purpose
Provide information collection and analysis of security related threats and trends that may impact ConocoPhillips personnel, operations and business reputation in Qatar and the Middle East. Provide effective risk measures to ensure personnel security as a first priority and the protection of our facilities and and information. Implement and ensure compliance with Global Security policies and procedures and local security regulations. Manage the travel approval and security journey management program for Qatar and the Middle East. Promote security awareness and ensure that effective plans are in place, exercised, and tested on a regular basis. Conduct security and ethics investigations in accordance with corporate, business unit and statutory requirements.

Areas of Responsability
Provide timely information to the Business Unit management on emerging risks and threats that may impact the security of our people, operations or business reputation in Qatar and the Middle East
Working closely with the Director Security Asia Pacific & Middle East, coordinate and participate in periodic risk & vulnerability assessments, audits, and reviews of Qatar operations and other locations in the Middle East as required
Lead and promote a culture of security awareness across the business
Lead and promote a culture of Ethics awareness across the business

Implement Global and local security policies and plans


Coordinate security management planning, training & exercises, including annual and desk top exercises, for the Qatar Crisis/ Incident management teams and other locations as required


Lead/participate in the investigation of security and ethics-related incidents and support the development of corrective actions


Establish effective working relationships with security and external information providers e.g. OSAC and government agencies, the police and peer security


Manage the travel security program for the Middle East & Qatar

Qualifications

Required Skills/Competencies
5+ years of experience in the oil and gas sector
Appropriate qualifications/training in security and information analysis is essential
Tertiary level qualifications in an area related to: security, information assessment, foreign affairs or Middle East studies
Knowledge of the Middle East and its operating environment
Experience in successful government and stakeholder liaison and communication

Exceptional leadership, organizational, & problem-solving skills
Ability to collect and effectively analyze threat based information and provide appropriate risk mitigation measures to business leaders

Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate persuasively with local staff and stakeholders
Ability to liaise across business units, corporate and regional staffs, external stakeholders, internal business partners & regulatory agencies

Strong communication (written, oral & formal presentation/PowerPoint) skills essential
Professional working experience / understanding of environmental regulations & their applicability to upstream oil & gas operations desirable
Experience managing 3rd-party contractors to cost-effectively achieve business goals
Proven ability to interact within layers of internal & external organizations
Practical self-starter & can work effectively with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications/Experience
Fluent in Arabic and knowledgeable of Arabic culture
Experience in oil & gas industry in the Middle East
Previous supervisory experience and ability to mentor Junior staff.
