Project Security Manager

Employer: Control Risks
Location: Mombasa, Coast, Kenya
Contract – Rotational. Periods to be confirmed
Job Purpose
This is a senior project position covering client contracts onshore and  offshore in Kenya and elsewhere and will be responsible in managing  security and business related matters.

Tasks and Responsibilities,  varying according to appointment
Security Management
Advice to Corporate Security Managers on threat and vulnerability  assessment of operations.
Local security input to the assessment of any existing security  arrangements, including physical security precautions, building  security, journey management, incident response, evacuation  planning, business support/information and training.
Maintaining responsibility of managing security within the client  operations and identification of threats.
Review existing contingency plans and, where appropriate, develop and exercise these under direction and guidance of the client.
Project security management – point of contact for the client with the operational responsibility for planning, preparation, implementation and oversight of client security operations.
Participate and coordinate the response to emergency security calls
Enable and ensure Control Risks’ staff to remain within the  framework of our Standard Operating Procedures and duty of care.
Support Control Risks’ compliance within the regulatory framework of the Government.

Operations Management
Liaise and engage with all stakeholders within client operation to help ease relationships and understanding
Command and control of client protection teams and/or static  security infrastructure
Assess the security situation as it  applies to client’s project site(s)  and make recommendations in line with the current intelligence and journey management procedures
Provide performance management to Control Risks’ project management and security teams, and be prepared to directly assist.
Equipment and vehicle care, accountability and management.
Manage all project resources and ensure that allocated resources  are used effectively and efficiently with client and supplier liaison in managing the day-to-day running of the client contract.
Able to provide training oversight and management in line with  Control Risks Training Directives and priorities
Ensure problems are forecast so pre-emptive measures can be put in place.
Maintain an accurate register of tasks performed for the clients, including dates, routes, venues (list non-exhaustive) to aid in Task Sheet completion for invoicing
Ensure Control Risks personnel maintain a professional approach, appropriate client etiquette, discipline and presentation
Ensure all operations are in compliance with the Voluntary
Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) and all  applicable human rights legislation

Knowledge and Experience
Essential Extensive experience in operational risk management supported by  references from senior colleagues.
Experienced in the methodology and application of physical and  personnel security risk measures. Must have experience of conceptualising security requirements and  translating into formal written documents.
Must be experienced in delivering presentations in a formal nature  to commercial clients and informal explanations of operational  capabilities.
Preferred
Good recruitment skills, leadership skills and performance
management.
Knowledge of and exposure to oil and gas sector.
Previous experience of offshore security projects
Previous consultancy knowledge and commercial security experience.

Qualifications and Specialist Skills
English and Kiswahili speaker, relevant local language if elsewhere in East Africa
Competent and confident in the use of Microsoft Office products
Security and Risk Management qualifications or equivalent
